My Dear Eastern Kentucky Pastors and Laymen,

Greetings in the Name of the Lord.

In four Sundays we will be celebrating Easter. Without Easter, the Christian faith is a waste of time. That's what the apostle Paul
says: "If Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile and you are still in your sins" (1Corinthians 15:17). The reason for this is that
Christ's Resurrection not only gives us hope for eternal life, but it also confirms that what Jesus said in his earthly life was true. The
resurrection was God's stamp of authenticity on Jesus, proclaiming, "Yes, Jesus is my Son. Yes, he has overcome death. Yes, what
he told you is true. Trust him! Follow him!"

In the next few weeks we are gearing up for an outstanding Easter on the EKD. It will only be outstanding because you will plan,
prepare, and invite. If you bring those you care about to an Easter service, they will hear the truth, the Easter story, and have the op-
portunity to come to Jesus. Church, make this the best Palm Sunday and Easter ever in the life of your church.
Pastor, preach a message of encouragement of how God, through Easter, gives us a chance to start over and enjoy a new rela-
tionship with him.
Laity, who of your relatives, friends, neighbors, and co-workers need Christ and His encouragement this Easter? People are
more likely to be open to your invitation at Easter than at any other time of year. Don't miss this once-a-year opportunity to
invite them to your church’s Easter Celebrations.
Here's how you can fulfill your mission at Easter:
PRAY!! Ask God to show you who to invite.
Prepare for the services – Plan and prepare.
Pray for each of the services your church provides.
Bring your family, friends, neighbors, and co-workers to church.
Pray that many will commit their lives to Christ this Easter.
Greet everyone around you. There will be visitors, please help them feel welcomed.

I also wanted to remind you that we are moving into our busiest time of the year as a District and I look forward with anticipation to
all that God has for us. I would like to highlight a several important items.

Through PrimeTime Ministries, the Church of the Nazarene is responding to the large and
growing group of mature adults within the churches and communities we serve. Mature
adults are vitally important to our church. Within this group can be found “spiritual schol-
ars” who have valuable resources which are vital to the health and growth of our local
church ministries. Among these resources are wisdom, experience, traditions, stability,
spiritual maturity, and love for their church and church family. New levels of longevity,
health, and vitality—as well as discretionary resources and time—are also found.

The Church of the Nazarene recognizes the tremendous contribution mature adults have
already made during their lifetimes for the sake of the local program. Further, PrimeTime
Ministries emphasizes the great ministry potential that still resides with this group. Our
ministry is not only focused on ministry to mature adults, but ministry through and with
them as well. It is certainly true, among mature adults as much as it is among other adult
groups, that adulthood is a journey, not a destination.

News and Notes:

 If your church or zone is having a Prime Time event, if you let me (Joni)
or the District Office know, we would be happy to attend if possible.
 If your church or zone would like to have a PrimeTime event, and need
help planning, I would be happy to give some input.
 If you would like to visit, get some ideas, need a devotional, or anything
else, feel free to contact me.
