ABSTRACT

Agriculture plays vital role in the development of agricultural country. In India about 70% of
population depends upon farming and one third of nation’s capital comes from farming. The
purpose of this is to design and develop an agricultural monitoring system using wireless
sensor network to increase the productivity and quality of farming without observing it for all
the time manually. IOT technology helps in collecting information about conditions like
weather, moisture, temperature and fertility of soil, crop online monitoring enables detection
of weed, level of water, pest detection, animal intrusion in to the field, crop growth,
agriculture. Monitoring environmental factors is the major factor to improve the yield of the
efficient crops. Wireless sensors are used for monitoring the farm conditions and micro
controllers are used to control and automate the farm processes. IOT technology can reduce
the cost and enhance the productivity of traditional farming. DHT11 sensor and soil moisture
sensor is used to send data inputs to the ARDUINO Microcontroller and it displays the result
in the LCD screen for the farmers. The generated data is send to the cloud using the GPRS to
use it globally.
