Women’s pro kabaddi league
Women's Kabaddi Challenge is a Kabaddi league in India started like Pro Kabaddi
League for women's.
They will take part in inaugural season in 2016 and the league will be played
across seven cities in India.
Bangalore, Delhi, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Kolkata, Mumbai and Pune
There are three teams in women’s pro kabaddi league. They are

 Ice Divas - Captain: Abhilasha Mhatre
 Storm Queen - Captain: Tejeswini Bai

Star India launches Women's Kabaddi Challenge
 The first season was played in 2016, from 28 June to 31 July and was
broadcast by Star Sports in India.
 Star India, the official broadcaster of the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL),
announced the launch of the Women’s Kabaddi Challenge on June 28, an
initiative by the Amateur Kabaddi Federation of India (AKFI) in association
with Mashal Sports.
 The Uday Shankar-led media network is a majority shareholder in Mashal
Sports, the promoter of PKL.
 Having popularized and monetized the game on television, the network now
aims to get things going for the women’s Kabbadi.
 While it isn’t yet an annual tournament, it will use the PKL platform as a
launch pad.
 he first match will be played on June 28 at the Dome in the Sardar
Vallabhbhai Patel stadium in Mumbai, with the finals set to be hosted
alongside the men’s Pro Kabaddi Finals on July 31 at Hyderabad.
 The women will be competing on the same sized mats as the men, but will
have 30-minute matches, with two halves, instead of the 40-minute format
for men.
 Much like the first season of PKL, the ad-sales team has not looked at
monetizing the women’s challenge. The matches take place on days when
PKL has only one match scheduled, leaving the stadium and airtime free.
 All the women’s matches will be telecast at 9 pm, and the commercial
partners for PKL, will get visibility in these matches too.
 The marketing campaign was released on Sunday night, and goes with the
tagline — Cross the Line.
 This is to highlight Star’s efforts to bring women’s kabaddi into the
spotlight.
 The matches will be played in Mumbai, New Delhi, Hyderabad, Bengaluru,
Kolkata, Jaipur and Pune.

Women’s Pro Kabaddi 2016 Schedule and Live Telecast TV channels


 It will televised live on Star Sports 2 and Star Sports HD 2 in English, Star
Sports 3 and Star Sports HD 3 in Hindi, Maa Movies in Telugu, on Star
Gold in Hindi and Suvarna Plus in Kannada and on Star’s Digital platform.

Storm Queens create history as they win the inaugural season of Women’s
Kabaddi defeating Fire Birds 24 – 23 at Gachibowli Indoor Stadium in Hyderabad.
Storm Queens topped the points table with 13 points from 4 matches.

Remuneration for women’s pro kabaddi league


All three teams are in-house squads and haven’t been purchased by an owner, like
in the men’s edition. The three teams are made up of the crème of the country, so
they made it hit.

Viewership of women’s pro kabaddi league


The first two matches of the Women's Kabaddi Challenge (WKC) alone had a
viewership of 38 million, according to Broadcast Audience Research Council
(BARC) data shared by Star India, which the broadcaster claimed is the highest
viewership that any women's sport has got in India.

On an average, the matches played between the three teams - Fire Birds, Ice Divas
and Storm Queens got 7.2 million impressions (average number of viewers at any
time during the match).
Conclusion:
Women’s pro kabaddi league has done very well and got good response there is
very high viewership than any women sports has not got till now. Sports like
should encourage and come up with every year with a new season and should
encourage these sports the players in the team are playing very well and these type
of players should have gave a to play more seasons like men’s pro kabaddi league
And Capitan’s of women’s pro kabaddi leagues captains are giving running
commentary in men’s pro kabaddi league instead can come up with more WPKL
seasons and give chance to play and to prove them once again.
