Introduction
Rocket is basically an engine according to NASA (May, 2014), that also
known as a spaceship, which launched to send people or scientific
equipment into the space. As an engine, the rocket needs fuel to take
off. From that, it needs to gradually burn in order to produce the heat,
which bring the gas to the right amount and build up constantly
(Three, two, one...blast off! How does a rocket take off?, n.d.). Later
then, when they release the gas out, this will build up a massive force
that create enough push for the rocket takeoff. In hence, this relates
to Newton’s Third Law, it defines that every action has an equal force
with the opposite direction (Benson, 2015). In another word, object A
applies the same force that object B applies on object A in differing
direction. Consequently, this explains the takeoff of the engine when
the exhaust gas from combustion of fuels burst out from the inside of
the rocket downward to push against the ground, then accelerated the
rocket upward as a reaction into the space. Science Clarified reported
that momentum conservation is also one of the applications that
relates to the rocket, which can explain the reasons how the rocket
can fly up into the space (Momentum, n.d.). From that, conservation of
momentum happens when there is no external forces that act on the
rocket, where they have equal force in different direction.
The purpose of this experiment is to create a longest time rocket fly in
the air by adapting the knowledge such as Newton’s Third Law and
Conservation of Momentum.
Objective
1.  Apply the knowledges that we learnt in-class and out-class in the
rocket
2. Make the rocket with as longest as possible air-time

Materials
1. Coke bottle
2. 100-pound paper
3. Hard paper
4. Tape
5. Hot glue gun
Setup
Procedure
1. Design the rocket in A4 paper
2. Gather the materials include tape, coke bottle size big, hard
paper, feature board
3. Cut the hard paper and make it shape to be the cone
4. Stick the cone with the bottom of the Coke bottle by tape.
5. Put hot glue between tape, the cone, and bottle
6. Cut the hard paper from shoe box to be the wings
7. Wrap the wing with tape to makes it strong
8. Stick the wings to the body of the rocket with tape and hot
glue
9. Wrap the wing with tape to makes it strong
Stick the wings to the body of the rocket with tape and hot glue

Data and Results

The measurement of the parts of the rocket
- Wing 2.45 X 3.5 inches
- Rocket 2.9 x 19.5 inches
Data and Results

Bottle Rocket is an underdog.

Analysis
In order to make the rocket
that is met with our requirement, we have
to do a research on many methods and
theories. So, we found out that the
theories that cause a huge effect on the
rocket’s air-time are the Newton’s Second
Law of Motion ( F = m * a) and the free-
fall theory ( F = m * g). So, we come up
with the solution about if you want to
increase rocket’s air-time, you need to
reduce its weight along with increase its
acceleration, by reduce air resistance, as
much as possible.

Conclusion
From what we’ve designed for our rocket, we believe that
our rocket will be the longest rocket in the air compared to the
others. In addition, we include small point rocket head so that it can
break through the air resistance. That we understand Newton’s
Third Law and the Conservation of Momentum, leading to where we
should have the right amount of water inside - replacing the fuels -
to create more force to push against the ground, where can push
back to the rocket to go higher and longer. From that, while
launching the rocket, it will gain the right amount of energy to push
the rocket.
Competition
- The design
- The knowledge that we applied
- What we learn about the application of newton’s third law => help
the idea of making the rocket stay longer

Recommendation
- The project like what we are going to be improvement: limit of time,
teamwork, etc.
- Make us more creative
- Help us to accepts an ideas of everyone in group and find the way
to makes our group comfort.
- Illustrate us to understands about momentum, Newton 2nd law,
Newton 3rd law, Air resistance, etc.
