Queen Bee Debbie Roessler filled in for
President Dianne Wilson and opened
the meeting. Guests were our speaker,
Dave Trotter, Mayor of Moraga, KC
Bowman from the Town ‘s Public Works
staff and former Moraga Rotary President
Scott Bowhay.
The Rajah (Roger Gregory) provided a
brief history of the USS Lexington aircraft
carrier as his thought of the day. It was
commissioned in 1928 and provided key
strategic roles in the battles in the Pacific
in WWII before being sunk. On March 5,
2018 an expedition funded by billionaire
miles of the northeastern coast of
Australia. “Raj” then lead us in the Pledge
of Allegiance.

Ron Mucovich had 2 Happy Bucks for
having attended an enjoyable and
informative PETS program and a thank
you for the poster created by Vicki Devlin
and signed by Moraga Rotarians giving
Ron well wishes. It was presented to Ron
at PETs by Assistant District Governor,
Joy Alaidarous
Rich Render reported that Moraga had 14
of the 102 teams competing in the
Odyssey of the Mind San Francisco
Region Competition. 5 teams earned a
first or second place and will go to the
State competition in Riverside on March
24.
Rich also reported that our out bound
Rotary exchange student, Vasch Gerber,
has decided to come home early, while
our incoming exchange student, Valeria
Yu has settled in with her second family in
Walnut Creek.
Rich announced his fifth job retirement
and bemoaned the loss of his dog Monte,
our Moraga Rotary dog mascot.
Kevin Reneau had 2 happy bucks for his
daughter’s move out of the house and
getting on her own.
Al Simonson thanked members for the
brisk sales of horse sponsorships.
Frank May that reported former Moraga
Rotarian, Ron Julian , is confined to home
with breathing difficulties and would
probably appreciate a call or card.
