ACT Planning Meeting Minutes

Remediation Plan Description:

● Keith, Hearn, Earsley, Morris, Glugla, Pritko and Brown will provide ongoing
remediation during warm-ups in their respective subject areas using ​The Real ACT Prep
Guide​. These teachers will also be asked to administer one section of a practice test
relative to their content area during one remediation period. The following remediation
period should be used to review test answers.
● Harper and Edwards will meet with English III classes according to the following
schedules. During this time, counselors will discuss test taking tips and strategies for
success.
○ Hearn’s and Keith’s Fall Semester​ students on 12/11, 12/12, 12/13, 12/14
during remediation time. 12/18, 12/19, 12/20, 12/21 will be used as make-up days
for any student who missed the tutorial during the prior week.
○ Earsley’s Spring Semester ​students on 1/29, 1/30, 1/31 during remediation time.
Make-up time will be scheduled if needed.
○ Hearn and Keith’s Spring Semester​ students on 2/5, 2/6, 2/7, 2/8 during
remediation time. 2/12, 2/13, 2/14, 2/15 will be used as make-up days for any
student who missed the tutorial during the prior week.
● Hearn will offer ACT club on B Week for interested participants.
● Harper will offer additional ACT tutorial sessions on 2/2, 2/9, 2/23 during Club time
leading up to the actual test using the online ACT testing resources and other
supplemental resources.
● Junior Class Presentation on February 2nd, 2018
● ACT Parent Night on Open House date (2/13/18)

Student Incentives:

● Participation Incentive:
Students who take the test will receive a ticket to gain entrance into a special
celebration after their lunch time. The celebration will consist of an additional 15 minute
lunch period with cupcakes and a raffle to win prizes.

● Test Passing Incentive:


Students who earn an overall test score of 17 will have the chance to attend a 30
minute social event in the gymnasium. At the event, students will be able to use cell
phones and enjoy cake and ice cream.

Exceptional Children Plan:


Mrs. Beckham will investigate the requirements for testing students with documented
disabilities. More information to come.
