the finances which led to the establishment of many of
the parishes in Etobicoke and also the many excellent
Catholic elementary and secondary schools in our
area. You have every reason to be proud of your many
activities for the Church, the Catholic community and
the community at large during the 2009-2010 fraternal
year. Past Grand Knight Danny Franchi and his outgo-
ing executive deserve much credit for the many hours
of hard work they put in, in Pancake Breakfasts, Par-
ish Bazaars, the Out of the Cold Program, the Rose
Sundays, the Life Chain, youth work, the Clergy Ap-
preciation Dinner and so many other wonderful activi-
ties. Your Christian leadership qualities, your generos-
ity and hard work, your involvement in your parishes
have paid off in the wonderfully positive relations we
have with all our local parish Priests and their congre-
gations.

Our Jewish friends have a smart idea. They

don’t begin their new year in January. Rosh Hashanah,
the Jewish New Year comes in September. September
seems to make a new year or phase in nature, as the
hot and humid days of Summer give way to the cool-
ish days of Fall. The relaxing time of summer vacation
is replaced by the hectic back to school days of Fall
filled with meetings, work schedules and renewed
spiritual, social, academic and fraternal activities
which had been suspended during the summer.

This September thus presents us Knights of

Columbus of Kingsway Council with a new fraternal

quests that we have from the various parishes.
More to come!!!
Key events in September will be the Installation
of Officers at Our Lady of Peace Church on September
11th 2010 @ 5:00 pm mass, installation @ 6:00 pm fol-
lowed by a potluck dinner. On September 14th 2010
we will have a our 1st general meeting of the year, I
hope to see you all at the meeting. Farther dates that
you should put on your calendar are as follows:
March 1st Ordinandi Dinner, March 12th Kingsway
Council 60th Anniversary Dinner and Dance and May
27th Ante’s Ordination into the Priesthood.

I encourage all of you to attend our general

meetings as it allows you to be active in a Council that
now plays an important part in all the parishes that it
serves. It is nice to see that the priests of our parish
value the voluntary services that we offer. The priests
know that the Knights are there for them whether it be
to help with a pancake breakfast, pasta dinner, BBQ or
Honor Guard.

I want to thank Danny Franchi our past Grand

Knight for all his hard work over the last two years, we
now have a solid foundation. I want to congratulate
Brother Sam Tassone who is the District Deputy for the
new District 106, I want to congratulate Brother Danny
Franchi who is the District Warden for District 106. I
also want to congratulate Brother Frank Ficker who is
Zone President. We are fortunate to have such talented
representation to ensure that our voices are heard.

Finally I want to remind all of you that our

founder Father Michael J. McGiveny wanted Catholic
men to unite so as to support our churches. In our 60th
year anniversary let us the men of Kingsway Council
unite together to be there for our churches and to be
there for each other.
