Variation and Historical Change of Temperature and Rainfall over Bangladesh

Introduction
Climate Change and its impacts on development goal such
as agriculture, food security, society and overall economy
have appeared as a global concern for the last couple of
decades. Natural hazards originated from increased rainfall,
rising sea levels, and tropical cyclones are projected to
occur in higher frequency due to climate changes and all
such events are extremely affecting society economy and
Objective environment-three pillars of sustainable development.

To investigate the trends and change

of temperature and rainfall of Bangladesh
using historical data of last 50 years from 35 stations over the
country.

Methodology
 Daily temperature and rainfall data of 35 stations over Bangladesh during
the period of 1964-2013 (50 years) were collected
 The non parametric Mann-Kendall test in combination with trend free pre-
whitening (TFPW) approach for correcting time series for serial correlation
have been used.
 Sen’s slope method was used to determine the magnitude of change in
the climate parameter series
