Dear: Dr.

Maxwell,

Hello there Dr. Maxwell well I have been thinking lately and I have thought about how
our school can have a hand in helping the world from CO 2 gas in the world. This is what causes
global warming which is when their are many CO 2 gas that are in the world. Global warming
causes the world to be warmer which co do lead to many dangerous things. For example glacier
and many parts of the world with ice will melt from all the heat, than the weather can get more
dangerous by storms like hurricanes. See in my science class we have been talked no about
how photosynthesis can help reduce global warming. So us helping to try to reduce global
warming would be kind of neat from me learning all of this in science.

First of all to understand global warming you need to understand how CO2 is a part of
global warming also methane is a part of global warming as well, but right now let’s talk about
CO2. First CO2 is a gas that is released by humans and animals when they breath out. This is
how CO2 gets in the air and plants take up that CO2 to make oxygen that we humans breathe
in. However from humans tearing down trees this cause more CO2 to stay in the air which will
affect the world, which is with global warming. Now you may be wondering what may how have
people helped to reduce the amount of CO2 in the air well here are some ideas. First from
plants being able to take up the CO2 that’s in the air so planting plants can help reduce the
amount of CO2 in the air. Another way is by recycling anything that’s recyclable is because this
would reduce the amount of reusable products that’s made in factors.

What we can do to help reduce the amount of CO2 in the world is by planting plants in
the fronts of the schools and also the back. This would first help reduce the amount of CO2 in
the air little by little and also make our schools look neater. Another thing we can do is by
recycling every week, soon one day in every week people would come and take all of are
recycle. So let’s say the recycle day was one every wednesday so someone from the schools
(not just one person) will go around every classroom and get all the recycling. Than with all of
this we can use it by using plastic bottles to make opts for th plants, and much more to show
people that PGCPS is the best school system and care about the earth.

Sincerely,
Jesus Colindres

Dear Dr. Maxwell,

Global Warming refers to the transformation of rising temperature over time. These past 50 years,
global warming has enlarged pretty quickly. As we know, global warming can be very alarming and
harmful to plants, humans, animal, and our world. The understanding of global warming is relatable to
concepts that we have learned in class in many ways. In science class, we have learned about elements
such as carbon dioxide. We have also learned about how plants use carbon dioxide in order to complete
their photosynthesis phase. Carbon dioxide that’s up in the sky is the cause of global warming.

Understanding CO2 emissions is very important in order to understand global warming. CO2 is
basically carbon dioxide. CO2 is known as a greenhouse gas that has primarily been emitted by human
activities. This greenhouse gas is the cause of global warming. Carbon dioxide is released to the air in
four ways, respiration, deforestation, volcanic eruptions, and burning fossil fuels. Some schools have
already started organizations in order to stop global warming. For example, some schools have already
started donating money towards huge organizations.

Our school system should also take action. If our schools started to donate money or make up an
organization… it would be great! PGCPS can reduce carbon emissions by helping or donating to
organizations. Our school can also use less electricity in order to reduce carbon emissions. We could also
have recycling bins in all classrooms. It would also make our school more recognizable.

Sincerely, Zaida Martinez

Dear, Dr. Maxwell,

Global warming is affecting the whole world. Global warming is the rise in
the average temperature of Earth’s climate. Global warming is already affecting
the world around us. The understanding of global warming relates to the concepts
that we learned in class because we have studied chemistry and the concept of
global warming is full of chemistry. To be able to know full the effects of global
warming you have to know the process of global warming.

Global warming is a complex topic. Understanding CO2(carbon dioxide)

emissions are important to understanding global warming because global warming
occurs when the amount of CO2 has become extreme and there are not enough
plants to go through the process of photosynthesis. CO2 emissions are very
harmful. Many other schools have started to reduce their carbon emission. For
example, the Tesla STEM High School have begun to raise awareness to the youth
about the environment. They recycle and make compost to help the the
environment.

Prince George’s County can do many things to reduce our carbon emission are
we can recycle. We can lower our waste as much as possible. We can all start
using reusable water bottles. Another way we can lower our carbon emission is
also by creating compost. We throw away fruits that can be used to make compost
which helps plants. There are many more ways that PGCPS can reduce our carbon
emission. We can get everyone’s help and we can educate them on global
warming. We can make sure that we all recycle. If we put our minds on it we can
make a difference.

Sincerely,
Luvianny Umanzor
