The On-the-Job Training (OJT) is a hands-on, experiential course whereby the students
undergo Practicum training in a Corporation that will expose them to tasks, work situations
and environments related to the course and develop the necessary competencies and skills
needed in the workplace. This subject is a requirement for the following courses indicating
the number of hours they are required to complete:
Qualifications
The following students are eligible to undergo the On the Job Training (OJT) program:
1. Regular students – Senior Standing.
2. Irregular students - only those with at least 75 percent of the curriculum units that
have been credited (without any form of deficiencies or technical issues may result to
discredit of units) will be allowed. (See CMO 25, Series of 2015, Article5, Section
8.3)
Orientation Procedures
4. During the OJT ORIENTATION SEMINAR, every student is required to bring his
Enrollment Registration Form. Without the registration form, the OJT student may
secure any proof that he/she is officially enrolled in the current subject.
5. OJT ORIENTATION SEMINAR will be conducted TWICE. This means that there
will be a second session for those who will not be able to attend the first session.
Topics that will be discussed during the first session will just be repeated in the
second session.
Failure of the students to attend the ORIENTATION SEMINAR will be reprimanded
.
OJT Student Documents
7. During the orientation the Dean/Coordinator will give and announce the necessary
documents that should be prepared. The said documents shall be given in hardcopy.
8. The student will prepare a LONG BROWN ENVELOPE, a plastic envelope cover
and
their 2x2 sized picture posted at the top-right corner and their name, course and
section
affixed at the top-left corner.

This envelope will be submitted to the Dean/Coordinator, before the start of the actual
training.
9. Memorandum of Agreement and waiver should be accomplished, secured and
notarized by the student at least two(2) weeks after or even before deployment to
work as OJT. In any case that the Memorandum of Agreement is not signed for some
reasons,( i.e., the companies have their own Memorandum of Agreement for the OJT
applicants), the Dean/Coordinator should be notified as soon as possible.
10. To give the Office of the Dean/Coordinator an ample time for proper review and
scanning, endorsement letters should be requested from the Dean/Coordinator at least
two (2) days before the date of approval and signing. Endorsement letter should be in
a standard format based on the pre-formatted softcopy given to the students.
12. Selection of companies should meet the criteria set by the department as stated (See
Selection of Company for OJT) and should be approved by the Dean/Coordinator.
13. A list of class sections with their designated practicum advisers will be posted at the
department bulletin board. OJT students are advised to update themselves for the
postings and further announcements from time to time.
14. During the application, Company may impose the standard operating procedure
regarding pre- employment. In this case, the department will not be held liable for
shouldering any of the expenses that must be covered during the pre-employment
requirement set by the Company.
15. 500 hours WITH SATISFACTORY RATING from their immediate on-site
supervisor and Dean/Coordinator is a must to pass the subject.
16. Students reporting 500 hours will be required to accomplish their total working hours
of rendering their services within the semester which the subject is enrolled.
17. Transferees who are enrolled in the current semester and wish to credit their previous
OJT Units earned from previous school they attended should provide a proof that the
training they attended and tasks delegated to them is aligned to IT INDUSTRY Practices.
Else, OJT units will not be credited.
18. Overtime and working holiday hours including Sundays will be subjected to the
company’s / organization’s / institution’s written justification of scope of work
together with the coordinator's or the Dean’s Approval.
Approved overtime will be credited to the total number of required hours in exchange
of the services rendered by the OJT student.
However, overtime and working holiday hours should only be applicable for some
special cases such as: Summer OJT, Graduating students with number of hours
deficiencies and project basis type of work.
Rendering working hours overtime especially during the regular semestral period is
not allowed.
19. For project basis, students exceeding more than the required number of credited
number of total working hours will be subjected for company’s/organization’s/
institution’s responsibilities, liabilities and obligation.
If in case, the student fails to complete the required number of hours for any reason,
the company shall issue a certificate of attendance stating the number of credited
hours incurred by the OJT student
OJT Journal
21. An OJT journal will be required from the students to account their activities,
concerns and learning.
22. Students should write their journal weekly and should be submitted to the
Dean/Coordinator for signing, advising and evaluation – penalty will be imposed for
late submission.
The OJT Coordinator will be responsible for selecting the Company/Institution where
the students will be trained for their Practicum; however, students can search for their
company for practicum but subject to the approval of the Practicum Coordinator.
23.1.9. Research Agencies (i.e., Asia Pacific Center for Research, Phil.
Survey & Research Center, Phil. Institute for Development
Studies, National Research Council of the Phil., etc)
23.2. In addition, the selected companies should meet the following criteria:
23.3. Students are not allowed to have their OJT with their family-owned
enterprise or, if with an independent company, not be under the direct
supervision of parents and relatives up to the 3rd degree of
consanguinity and affinity who work for the firm.
24. The Student should notify the Dean's office soonest if they fail to find a Company for
OJT Accordingly, the Dean/Coordinator will try to match the students with partner-
institutions of SNC for the OJT course, on a best-effort basis, depending on the
availability of slots. In case the number of slots are insufficient to cover the number
of students applying for matching, those with higher general weighted averages will
be given priority.
Uniform
25. During the OJT Period, every OJT student is required to follow the uniform policy set
by the Company/Partner Institution.
If in case the OJT student, needs to provide a uniform required by the Company, all
concerns pertaining collection of expenses must be properly coordinated to the
department through the Dean/Coordinator.
26. If there is no Company Policy regarding uniform, the OJT student shall be required to
wear the school uniform including ID. The students can also use or wear the Business
Attire if required by the partner-institution, as the case may be.
Course Requirements
28. The Students are required to complete the course hour requirements, equivalent to
500 hours, obtaining a satisfactory rating from the supervisor/manager/HR Head and
the Dean/Coordinator, and attend the school-prescribed OJT activities to pass the
course.
29. The rating instrument shall be developed by the Dean/Coordinator and will be the
instrument used by the supervisor in assessing the performance of the student-trainee
for purposes of course grading.
31. OJT students whose evaluation is marked as incomplete will only be given 1 year to
comply as stated in the student handbook (See Student Handbook)
32. OJT students should obtain a SATISFACTORY rating from the supervisor /manager
/HR Head and the Dean/Coordinator, AND ATTEND THE SCHOOL-
PRESCRIBED OJT ACTIVITIES TO PASS THE COURSE.
Information Dissemination
33. All official announcements, job posting, OJT career enhancement activities and other
important information shall be posted at the Department official bulletin board. In this
case, students are strongly advised to update themselves from time to time.
34. OJT Students are required to give their respective contact numbers and official
electronic mails (e-mails) to the Dean/Coordinator for further announcements,
communication and coordination.
35.1. Participation in community service that will improve the physical environment
within and around the school property.
36. Any OJT student who refuses to obtain the said penalties or reprimands upon
commission shall be subjected for non-issuance of clearance.
37. The Dean's Office may issue additional guidelines not stated in the OJT manual
before and during the OJT period to ensure the efficient implementation of the
Program.
38. The regulations stated above can be changed for some amendments upon proper
decorum.
