FORMULA TO THE WEIGHT GROWING OF CHILDREN AGED

ABSTRACT
Breast Milk is a natural food that is ideal for babies, especially in in their first
months. Breastfeeding not only make the baby’s life healthier and provides enough
nutritious for them, but also a way of to embrace a warm, loveable and fun things.
However, not all infants have been given exclusive breastfeeding. In Baubau city,
in 2011 there are 29.5% breastfed and in 2013 there are 21% breastfed of all babies.
The research design used in this research is descriptive comparative with cross
sectional approach. The sampling technique is total sampling with a population of
98 babies in primary health centers of Baubau city. The number of samples that
meet the criteria for inclusion and exclusion is about 65 babies.
The results showed that there are differences in weight gain among infants breast-
fed and formula-fed. This result is shown by the results of the Chi Square test with
value P-value of 0.002 (P< 0.05).
The concluded of this research on infants aged 1 to 3 months in primary health
center Melai Baubau city, this leads to differences in weight gain between infants
fed breast milk and formula-fed.
