National Highways Construction Cost Index (NHCCI)

[Base: 2013-14=100]
Review for the month of December, 2017

Based on information received so far from the source agencies (concessionaire /

contractor, IOC, JPC etc), National Highways Construction Cost Index (NHCCI) has been
compiled and released till December 2017. These indices are being released
provisionally by NHAI inviting comments from users / experts / stakeholders. Issues
relating to choice of base period, selection of item basket, derivation of weighting
diagram, collection of data, method of calculation of NHCCI and comparison with WPI
have been uploaded on NHAI website as “Methodology for NHCCI”.

Overall index for the month of December 2017 [with base 2013-14 = 100] stands
at 115.9 compared to 114.1 in November 2017 and 105.4 in December 2016. It has
increased by 9.96% over the year and by 1.58% over the previous month.

The indices of Material, Fuel, Equipment and Labour for December 2017 stand at
105.3, 106.8, 115.7 and 186.4 respectively, with the corresponding growth rates 5.51%,
5.12%, 0.00% and 37.95% over the same month in the previous year.
