Leveraging ICT Applications with Human Values
(September 23, 2010)
ICT is a key enabler in the creation of networks and thus allows those with access to benefit
from exponentially increasing returns as usage increases. ICT drastically reduces transaction
costs. ICT products are virtual and digital allowing for zero or reduced marginal costs. ICT
and its applications can make communication within the firm faster and make the
management of the firm’s resources more efficient. Seamless transfer of information
through shared electronic files and networked computers increases the efficiency of
business processes such as documentation, data processing and other back-office
functions. Leveraging ICT offers a unique positioning, professional flair and better chances
of long term business relationship.
To manage these information systems, organisations both big and small require IT personal
possessing human values which is in short supply. In order to augment this situation
management is determined to prepare socially responsible managers with strong ethical
values, global vision, a high degree of competence and innovative acumen to excel in
the competitive as well as dynamically fast changing IT environment.
If people don't have human values in their hearts, even families fall apart, friends become
enemies - and when relationships on the small scale are like this, war on the large scale will
be unavoidable. A strong symbiotic relationship between people and machines is often
what separates the best organisations from the merely good ones. A multicultural
workforce works if the company knows how to leverage ICT applications with human
values to create a competitive advantage.
The thrust to a country’s economic and industrial success lies with the highly trained
Managers with IT background instilled with composed attitude towards work culture. To
meet the growing demand the Institute proposes to organise one day workshop on
leveraging ICT applications with human values as a means to reduce the stress and strain
that is being faced by IT people working on 24/7 in a virtual world.
