ORGANIZATIONAL PROFILE

The UP Club for the Environment and Tourism (UP Club Ecotour) is among the student organizations in the
University of the Philippines Asian Institute of Tourism that has a commitment in preserving our environment. It
was founded in August 1996 by Percivil Carrera, and from then on, UP Club Ecotour had never ceased in dedicating
itself to projects and activities that would help increase the awareness of its members, fellow students inside and
outside the university, and countrymen. With 56 members at present, the organization yearly organizes Ecoskool,
with the aim of teaching children during their early age on how to care for the environment; Domestikwhiz, a
quiz-bee held to promote domestic tourism and to foster camaraderie among college students; and Ecotourista, an
annual coastal clean-up drive. One of its major achievements is the organizing of a benefit concert, dubbed as
Rockalikasan, held last November 18, 2006 at Rockwell Tennis Court, Makati City. The organization is also proud
to have won the prestigious recognition of being the Best Student Organization in the Asian Institute of Tourism
consecutively from AY 2005-2006 to AY 2007-2008.
