Introduction
Family Day reminds us all to focus our thoughts, energies and time to those closest to us—the
members of our own families. Throughout our busy lives filled with learning, teaching and working, it is
easy to allow ourselves to lose sight of what should always be most important—our children, parents,
spouses, siblings and other loved ones. It is also easy to lose sight of the important role we play within the
family of God—in our own parish families. Family Day gives us an opportunity to reconnect with our
families: to re-energize, refocus and share some quality time together with the Jack and Jill School family
—our students, parents, staff and trustees—
My dear brothers and sisters in Christ, good morning! Today, we celebrate our Thanksgiving
Mass along with the Family Day Celebration.
Let us welcome Christ in the presence of our celebrant Rev. Fr. SARJIT XALXO PALLOTINE
ENTRANCE HYMN
Celebrant: In the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
Commentator/All: Amen
Celebrant: The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy
Spirit be with you all
Celebrant: Brothers and Sisters, let us acknowledge our sins and so prepare ourselves to celebrate the
sacred mysteries.
All: I confess to Almighty God and to you my brothers and sisters that I have greatly sinned in my
thoughts and in my words, in what I have done and in what I have failed to do. Through my fault,
through my fault, through my most grievous fault; therefore I ask blessed Mary Ever Virgin, all
the angels and saints, and you, my brothers and sisters to pray for me to the Lord our God.
Celebrant: May Almighty God have mercy on us, forgive our sins, and bring us to everlasting life.
Commentator: Amen
Celebrant: Let us pray: God our Father, open our eyes to see your hand at work in the splendor of
creation in the beauty of human life. Touched by your hand our world is holy. Help us to cherish the gifts
that surround us to share your blessings with our brothers and sisters, and to experience the joy of life in
your presence. We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Commentator/All: Amen
Please all be seated and let us listen to the word of God.
LITURGY OF THE WORD
Responsorial Psalm:
I. A clean heart create for me, O God, and a steadfast spirit renew within me. Cast me not out from your
presence, and your Holy Spirit take not from me.
R. Create a clean heart in me, O God.
II. Give me back the joy of your salvation, and a willing spirit sustain in me. I will teach transgressors
your ways, and sinners shall return to you.
R. Create a clean heart in me, O God.
III. Free me from blood guilt, O God, my saving God; then my tongue shall revel in your justice. O Lord,
open my lips,
and my mouth shall proclaim your praise.
R. Create a clean heart in me, O God.
ALLELUIA
God so loved the world that he gave his only-begotten Son, so that everyone who believes
in him might have eternal life.
ALLELUIA
With the coming of evening that same day, he said to them, 'Let us cross over to the other side.' And
leaving the crowd behind they took him, just as he was, in the boat; and there were other boats with him.
Then it began to blow a great gale and the waves were breaking into the boat so that it was almost
swamped. But he was in the stern, his head on the cushion, asleep. They woke him and said to him,
Master, do you not care? We are lost!' And he woke up and rebuked the wind and said to the sea, 'Quiet
now! Be calm!' And the wind dropped, and there followed a great calm. Then he said to them, 'Why are
you so frightened? Have you still no faith? They were overcome with awe and said to one another, 'Who
can this be? Even the wind and the sea obey him.'
HOMILY
PROFESSION OF FAITH
I believe in God, the Father Almighty maker of heaven and earth, of all things visible and
invisible. I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ, his Only Begotten Son of God, born of the Father before all
ages. God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, consubstantial with
the Father; through him all things were made. For us men and for our salvation he came down from
heaven, and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary, and became man. For our sake he was
crucified under Pontius Pilate, he suffered death and was buried, and rose again on the third day in
accordance with the Scriptures. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He
will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead and his kingdom will have no end.. I believe in
the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son is adored and
glorified, who has spoken through the prophets. I believe in one, holy, catholic, and apostolic Church. I
confess one baptism for the forgiveness of sins and I look forward to the resurrection of the dead and the
life of the world to come. Amen.
Or…. Or …. Or
I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ, his only
Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius
Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried; he descended into hell; on the third day he rose again from the
dead; he ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty; from there he
will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Catholic Church, the
communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. Amen.
Celebrant: Lord hears our petitions that we may have the courage and perseverance to do well and
remain to be faithful to you as we pray:
1. May the Church always be a source of hope to those whose spirits are wounded by life’s trial so
that our community may remain optimistic amidst these trying times. We pray to the Lord…
2. May all families nourish love within their homes so that their children grow up well and learn how
to spread love to combat the greed and injustice that weakens our community. We pray to the
Lord…
3. May we, teachers continue to find joy in teaching and always be blessed with God’s patience,
wisdom, and love which they may use as tools in molding our pupils’ mind and spirit. We
pray to the Lord…
4. May each community continue to be bless by generous individuals who are willing to serve the
Lord by lending their time, talents and treasures for the betterment of the community. We pray to
the Lord…
5. May the government uphold peace among nation and lead our country with God’s Law so that all
the problems and crisis may ease and all will live without fear of poverty. We pray to the
Lord…
