Dear Sir/Madam,

The Competent Authority of the Board is pleased to appoint you as Observer for Joint Entrance
th
Examination (Main) {JEE(Main)-2018} to be held on 8 April 2018 (Sunday) at city MUZAFFARPUR. You
are aware that this is very sensitive examination which requires atmost care in performing duties of an
observer who is a public representative and thus need to ensure smooth and fair conduct of this
examination. I am sure that you will meet the expectation by adhering to the following instructions.

You are requested to reach the destination at least one day before the day of examination and
inform about your arrival to the Coordinator of the concerned city appointed by the CBSE. In cities where
coordinators are not appointed by the CBSE, the observers are requested to inform about their arrival to
the centre superintendent of the concerned centre. In case the Coordinator/Centre Superintendent is not
informed of your arrival, alternate arrangement will be made by the city Coordinator/Centre
Superintendent by appointing another person in your place.

The City Coordinator, CBSE Representative(s) and Centre Superintendent(s) of the city/town
will conduct the meeting on 7th April, 2018 at 11.00 a.m. to review and discuss the entire preparation
for smooth and fair conduct of examination along with the observer appointed by the CBSE. In this
meeting, you will be informed about the centre where you will have to perform the duty of an observer.
Without attending this meeting, you will not be able to perform your duty judiciously. Therefore, you are
requested to attend this meeting positively. The venue and timings of the meeting may please be
ascertained from the Coordinator or from the Centre Superintendent as the case may be.

You are also requested to read carefully the Guidelines for Centre Superintendents, Invigilators and
Observers for JEE(Main)-2018 and adhere to in true spirit. You are requested to accompany the
confidential material from the delivery place which will be intimated to you in the meeting on 7th April,
2018 and ensure your presence at the centre during the examination till examination is over. The
question paper packets must be opened in your presence as per instructions. The answer scripts must be
counted personally and packed in your presence as soon as the examination is over and escort
Answer Sheets bundles to the collection centre that will also be informed in the above mentioned
meeting. Please send the detailed report on the conduct of JEE(Main)-2018 immediately after the
completion of the whole process.

The Honorarium/TA-DA payable to an observer for JEE(Main)-2018 is as under:

Observer for Local Centre –

Paper 1 : Rs.3000/-(Rs.2000+Rs.1000 fixed Conveyance)

Paper 1&2 : Rs.4000/-(Rs.3000+Rs.1000 fixed Conveyance)

Observer for Outside Centre –

Paper 1 : Rs.4000/-(Rs.2500+Rs.1500 as fixed Conveyance)
Paper 1&2 : Rs.5000/-(Rs.3500+Rs.1500 as fixed Conveyance) (for two days TA/DA as per Board`s rule)

Rs.3000/-per day (Hotel charges maximum for 2 days for X & Y class cities) subject to production of
Hotel Receipt. Rs.2000/-per day (Hotel charges maximum for 2 days for other cities) subject to production
of Hotel Receipt Rs.400/- per day as food charges on production of proper bill.
The Board follows Govt. of India rules in terms of TA/DA. However, the persons deployed on duty
within a radius of 300KM one way, they may travel at their discretion by own Car/Taxi. The Board will pay
Taxi charges @ Rs.8/- per KM. Fixed conveyance of Rs.1500/- for local travelling will not be admissible in
such cases. Travelling by own Car/Taxi for more than 300 KM one way should be avoided. In case,
journey is performed by own car/Taxi, TA may be restricted to 2nd AC fare. The Board will not be able to
process TA/DA claim, if it is not supported by proper receipt and the following documents:

 For Train Journey - Rail Ticket

 Journey by Own Car/Taxi - Toll receipts where ever applicable
It may kindly be noted that travel by Air is not allowed at any cost.
The following documents are enclosed:-
 A copy of the Guidelines for Centre Superintendents/Invigilator and Observers for JEE(Main)-
2018
 Bill Form, TA/DA bill and Reports Proforma and
 Your Photo ID (Please paste your photograph at the prescribed place).
You are requested to read the guidelines carefully and adhere the same. Needless to mention that
JEE(Main)-2018 is one of the most prestigious and high stake examination. The Authority of the Board,
therefore, expects that you would be very alert and careful throughout the conduct of the exam to ensure
that the examination is absolutely fair.
Further, you are requested to acknowledge this appointment letter and send your willingness in the
enclosed Acceptance Form latest by 20th March, 2018 positively either through speed post or mail at
jeeobserver2018@gmail.com in order to ascertain your availability at the allotted centre. Kindly mention
reference code no E180203 allotted to you for all future correspondence.
