Students will be able to tell the place value of two-digit numbers

The lesson is for the grade level KG2, the lesson was taken place in the classroom. The learning
outcome that I was trying to achieve in the lesson was that students will be able to tell the place
value of two-digit numbers.

The lesson went well, but the students were having some difficulties with understanding the lesson,
because it was too heavy for them. I thought that the students were already know what is counting
by ones and tens. But I was shocked that they were not introduced to this concept. So I had to
explain what is counting by ones and counting by 10 and then explain the place value of two-digit
number. And that’s why the lesson got too heavy.

In the begging I engaged the students by telling them that we will meet two friends that will teach
us how to count in an easy way. And they were really engaged and focus with me, so I think it was
a good activity. I also related the lesson to the students’ prior understanding by letting them count
to 100.

After that before the differentiation activities, I noticed that the students still don’t understand the
concept of place value of two-digit numbers, so I asked the help of my MST. And she explained it
in a short and easy way. After that I explained the activities to the students. And as I thought the
activities were little bit hard, but with the help of me and my MST they finished the activities.
