Other Descriptions

Among the hospitals in metropolitan Tokyo, our hospital functions as a center for the treatment of
cancer and infectious diseases and is characterized by the following features.
[Cancer Treatment]
The hospital specializes in the treatment of cancer for the population of metropolitan Tokyo and, in
addition to a wide range of departments specializing in the treatment of cancer, we have a fully-
equipped central treatment facility providing procedures such as endoscopy, X-ray diagnosis and
pathology to provide a high level of medical care for the city populace.
In February 2008, the hospital took on a leading role in the treatment of cancer after being designated
as a cancer treatment base within the administrative divisions of Japan.
[Foundation for General Treatment]
In tandem with the growing aging society, the number of patients suffering not only from cancer, but
Comments from diverse complications is on the increase. Organic links between the various departments within
the hospital make it possible to select and implement the ideal treatment for each patient. The hospital
is capable of providing integrated treatment even in cases of difficult illnesses.
[Handling Infectious Diseases]
As well as handling various infectious diseases as a designated medical institution for the treatment of
secondary infectious diseases, the hospital also functions as an AIDS treatment center and provides
positive treatment for AIDS patients.
[Focus on the Roles as an Education and Training Institution]
To keep pace with the constant advances in medical technology, the hospital is unceasingly engaged in
providing comprehensive education and training for physicians and other staff involved in medical
treatment. The hospital also provides positive support for the acquisition of qualifications by its staff
engaged in medical treatment.

Other Descriptions

The Hospital was inaugurated as a metropolitan general hospital for the treatment of emergency
patients suffering serious illness or injury and, with the exception of certain legally-designated
infectious diseases, provides specialized treatment for all illnesses. In particular, the hospital puts
emphasis on the treatment of heart and cerebrovascular diseases.
Additionally, an emergency room is provided for use during the night and on holidays with a total of
17 physicians on hand to provide emergency treatment. As well as emergency cases, a department
specializing in the treatment of children of school age on an out-patient basis is open on Saturdays
and Sundays to make it easy for patients to come to the hospital.
Based on the concepts of "safety, service, manners, scientific foundation and technological
improvements," the nursing department works daily together with physicians and other
departments to provide nursing centered on "team treatment" with the goal of creating a hospital
worthy of the trust of its patients. Moreover, the Respiratory Control Team (RCT), the Infection
Comments Control Team (ICT) and the Nutrition Control Team (NCT) make use of the expertise of nurses
qualified in emergency and intensive care as well as infection control in the execution of their
respective functions.
The hospital has a support system the aim of which is to heighten specialized knowledge and
technology through clinical training for new nurses provided within the hospital. Support includes
guidance provided by a job coach over a period of three months and a three-year basic course to
enable trainees to gain independence as primary nurses. Following this, ongoing education such as
carrier-enhancement and nursing training as well as Physical Assessment Seminars and
extracurricular training is available. Furthermore, the hospital serves the role as a treatment center
covering a wide disaster area and provides "Specialized Disaster Training" that provides training
from the basics to foster instructors in disaster nursing.
