Steps  Procedures

1  Gather materials for pH testing and open all bottles by twisting it with your hand

2  Get 2 sepup trays out

3  Get out the 2 cups of Waukesha Tap Water, 1 bottle of Distilled Water, Spring Water, Aquafina, Fiji
water, Evian Water, And Smartwater.

4  Pick up the 2 cups of Waukesha Tap Water and pour the water into a The beaker until it reaches the 30
ml point. Then, pour that into the first large cup on the cPup tray.

5  Repeat step 5 with Distilled Water, Spring Water, Aquafina, Fiji water, Evian Water, And Smartwater
in the remaining large cups of the first cPup tray and the first 2 large cups of the second sepup tray

6  Get the LabQuest and the pH probe and attach the probe to the LabQuest in the Ch. 1 slot

7  Grab both of the pH solutions (4 -10 ), open the bottles and pour roughly 30 ml into 2 different cups of
the sepup tray

8  Carefully put the probe into the first cup, with the yellow solution.

9  On the LabQuest once the numbers become stable. Use the stylus and press on the red area. And press
the calibrate button

10  Set the pH level to 4 for the yellow solution and go back to the home screen

11  Gently take out the probe, and place the probe into the next cup of the se pub tray

12  Repeat steps 9 & 10, but for step 10 set the pH to 10

13  On the 2 sepub trays with the water samples, gently place the pH probe into the tap water sample

14  Once the number becomes stable on the LabQuest, record the number into your data table

15  Repeat steps 13 and 14 with each of the samples

16  Wash beaker and cPup trays, cap all bottles, and clean up the rest of your materials for the day.

17  Lay out your materials on the table for Turbidity testing and uncap all bottles.

18  Connect LabQuest to turbidity sensor and use the stylus to press the red button. From there, click
Calibrate.

19  Use the calibration liquid to calibrate and set the setting to 100. Then press Ok.

20  Once calibrated, fill the cup with the tap water up until it reaches the white line.

21  Wipe off the glass cup with a small paper towel and line up the arrow in the cup with the arrow on the
inside of the sensor. Then place the cup inside of the container and close the lid. When putting the cup
inside of the sensor grab it by the cap with a paper towel.

22  Look at your LabQuest to see the turbidity levels. A safe water sample is under 10. Record the
turbidity levels for the tap water in your data table.
23  Redo the past 4 steps with your other water samples.

24  Wash beaker and cPup trays, cap all bottles, dump the tap water in the sink, and clean up the rest of
your materials for the day.

25  Put on goggles, gloves, and gather materials.

26  Fill a tube to the 5-mL mark with the 1st sample.

27  Insert the tube into the left opening of the comparator.

28  Fill another tube to the 5-mL mark, with the 1st sample.

29  Add one NitraVer 5 Nitrate Reagent Powder Pillow to the second tube.

30  Cap both bottles and shake the one with the powder vigorously for 1 minute.

31  When finished wait 1 minute. An amber color will develop if a Nitrate is Present.

32  Insert the second tube into the right opening of the comparator.

33  Hold the comparator so that a light source is directly behind the tubes. rotate the color disk until the
colors in the front window match.

33  Read the result in mg/L nitrate nitrogen in the Scale window.

34  Repeat yellow steps until all water samples are complete and tested. Record your findings in the data
table. Clean up and put away materials and wash hands.

35  Put on goggles, gloves, and gather materials.

36  Fill a tube to the 5-mL mark with the 1st sample.

37  Insert the tube into the left opening of the comparator.

38  Fill another tube to the 5-mL mark, with the 1st sample.

39  Add one DPD Free Chlorine Reagent Powder Pillow to the second tube. Swirl for 1 minute and let sit
for 3.

40  Insert the second tube into the right opening of the comparator.

41  Hold the comparator so that daylight or a fluorescent light source is directly behind the tubes. rotate
the color disk until the colors in the front window match.

42  Read the result in mg/L in the Scale window. If the best match occurs between two color segments,
determine the value halfway between the two printed numbers.

43  Repeat grey steps until all water samples are complete and tested. Record your findings in the data
table. Clean up and put away materials and wash hands.

44  Gather all materials

45  Attach the Dissolved Oxygen Probe to the LabQuest in the Ch. 1 slot

46  Pour 10 mls of Spring water, into the first cup of the first sepub tray
47  Repeat step 46 with Distilled Water, Spring Water, Aquafina, Fiji water, Evian Water, And Smartwater
in the remaining large cups of the first sePup tray and the first 2 large cups of the second sepup tray

48  Twist open the cover of the dissolved oygen probe, and gently place the probe into the first cup of the
first sepub tray. Watch the numbers on the LabQuest and until it is steady

49  Once steady, twist the cap back onto the probe and record the number into the data table

50  Repeat steps 48 and 49, with all the water samples

51  Clean and put away all materials
