La Vida Califasfest 2017

La Vida Califas car club along with La Vida Califas Socialites kicked off its' 2nd Annual Califasfest 2017
with a cruise Friday afternoon September 29th in the city of Sanger, CA. The vehicles gathered at the
Sanger High school and cruised through State Route 180 Scenic Highway ending on 7th Street in
Beautiful downtown Sanger where Missie Page and the Rifftones from San Diego were entertaining the
crowd with their Alternative Rockabilly music.

On Saturday the entertainment on stage was Moonlight Trio along with the Notorious Dj Betty Bangs.
The crowd grew as the day progressed. Custom cars, trucks and motorcycles began parking and getting
ready for the car show. Dolls started showing up with cherry red lipstick, winged tip eyeliner and betty
bangs for the pin-up contest.

Saul and Michelle Serrano (known as "El Guapo" and "Mica Ella" ), started La Vida Califas, translates to
"The California Life." The couple decided to start a car club to share and enjoy the company of others
who experienced the rockabilly culture and family here in the Central Valley.

Rockabilly clothing, music and tattoos is a mix of 1950s fashion. For women, the style stems from the
1940s, and 1950s pinup girls with sexy pencil skirts and 1950s swing dresses. The style comes from rock
n' roll icons of the 50s. With a splash of modern country. Slicked back hair and leather jackets for the
guys, and swing skirts, Bettie Paige bangs and red lipstick for women, the rockabilly style is distinctive
and often considered rebellious.

Michelle started the La Vida Califas Socialites, a social club dedicated to community, family, supporting
local businesses, events & promoting member individuality. "NO dues-Little Rules" is the motto for both
the car club and the Socialites. Keeping with tradition, cherry red lipstick, sharp, winged eyeliner, slick
pompadours, Betty Paige bangs along with tattoos is the lifestyle of LA Vida Califas members.

Sara Ashbaugh Salinas said, " The 2nd Annual Califas Fest Pin-Up Contest was such a great success.
