SPOOKY BLACK – REASON - MUSIC VIDEO
JOHN WARWICK AND LEWIS HIGHGATE

I will be working with my classmate Lewis Highgate. Our idea is to create a

cinematic, meaningful music video for the song, Reason, by Swedish rapper/singer
Spooky Black. We plan to film some beautiful visuals such as drone footage from the
top of viewpoints such as Winter Hill in Marlow. We want to film the footage at sunset
for some very nice visuals to match the emotions of the song. We also want to film
some smoke flairs in exclusive locations such as a forest and a large storm drain
covered in intricate graffiti as we feel like these beautiful visuals will complement the
song really nicely. As well as these nice shots, we want to add some short, slow
motion clips of an unfolding story about someone suffering from domestic abuse. The
clips will be short and consist of arguments and abuse but they will undoubtedly
emphasise the meaning and emotions of the song as well as provide a visual to
correspond to the lyrics of the song. The song starts off slow and instrumental which
provides us with a chance to use the drone footage and some of the beautiful
visuals and include clips of minor abuse. As the song drops and the lyrics begin to
change, we will start to increase the intensity of the abuse in the clips and include
more dramatic visuals which will be more suited to the sudden increase of emotion
in the song. For the end of the video, we wanted to add a controversial ending
which makes the watcher question if it is justice or not. Throughout the process of
creating this video, I will be the allocated camera man responsible for the footage
and filming. I plan to film in the style of most music videos of this genre. Scenic shots
and mysterious, colourful footage mixed with the strange, wavy editing style that
Lewis Highgate will be using, we are hoping, will help us to achieve the style of video
we are aiming for. The target audience we will be aiming to create for is 16-25. This is
because this style of music is generally enjoyed most by people of this age but also,
we feel that it will be quite a dark video at some points, maybe too old for under
16’s.
