LESSON PLAN- "EDUCATION & INNOVATION"

TIME: 80 min Teaching level: Grades 4-6.

DESCRIPTION:

This lesson is about innovation and education and its place in society. It develops reading and
speaking skills and the use of context-specific vocabulary. The students’ own experiences and
opinions form the basis of all discussion and extension work.

RELATED SUBJECT AREAS:

Science, general education classes, language classes.

OBJECTIVE IN DETAIL:

Students will:

- Identify and discuss what innovation is, what it means to be innovative, and the
impact that innovation has on individuals and on education.

- Identify the meaning of and use vocabulary in the context of innovation and
education

- To identify some famous examples of innovation in education.

- Create a poster with 5 principles on it about education and innovation.


Methods:

- Discussion

- Work in pairs or in groups

- Brainstorming- mind mapping ideas

-Reading

Materials/tools

- I pads, internet access, projector, projection screen, papers, markers, pens

Activities:

1. Discussion in class- What is innovation? What does it mean to be innovative.


2. Students will discuss in groups or in pairs about recent innovation in education.
3. Students will create a mind map with their own ideas in their iPads
4. Students will search for more information from internet and complement their mind map with
new information ( iPad)
5. Every group will present their ideas to the rest of the class.
6. Students will use PicCollage app to create 5 principles poster about education and
innovation.
7. Students will present their work to the class.
