Commitment to Students and Student Learning developing as expected

Thomas has had the opportunity to work with a school-to-work health curriculum based class. He has been
able to develop an excellent rapport with the students and is well of their individual educational requirements.
His background experience of working with kids through coaching is a huge asset for his interaction with the
students. He has gone one step further and has taken on the role of wrestling coach at SWC.

Knowledge developing as expected

Tom's knowledge of the curriculum is extensive and he is able to relay that knowledge using many different
pedagogical techniques. Whether it be through discussions, power points or videos the students are being
taught in a mature effective manner. The students are well aware of the expectations of each unit and
lesson. He is able to adapt the lesson when needed, to better reinforce his lesson expectations to the
students. He is consciously aware of the various learning styles and differences amongst of the students in
this very diverse class. His determination and commitment to teaching is very evident.

Teaching Practice developing as expected

Thomas is well aware of the curriculum guidelines and before each unit and lesson we review it in detail. He
is very receptive to change, to better adapt his lessons to meet the students personal needs and challenges.
He has been dealing with students with a very wide range of learning ability and he has been able to make a
good connection to learning for all the students. Through his teaching techniques and his tone he has been
very effective in motivating students to learn the appropriate material.

Professionalism developing as expected

Tom is a very mature young man who is always on-time and always acts in an appropriate manner. He is
more like a colleague within our department rather than a student teacher. He is a great role model for our
youth and he has been able to make a connection with some hard to manage students. He has been able to
take their learnings from the classroom to the wrestling mat. His enthusiasm for the students in the classroom

and the mat has been an awesome asset to these kids.

Leadership and Community developing as expected

He has been able to learn from me and me from home in a very professional working environment. He is
able, on a regular basis, to adapt to any issues that may arise in the classroom or gymnasium. He has been
required to evaluate and the students progress and he has a good grasp of the students performances to
date.

Ongoing Professional Learning developing as expected

Tom is always looking for new ways to deliver the curriculum. He is always challenging himself to find
different methods to engage kids in learning. Through our discussions, I can see that Thomas is keen on
teaching our youth and he is always trying to make himself a better teacher. He is constantly trying new
classroom management techniques to help the students stay better engaged.
