INTRODUCTION

The world isn’t satisfied yet. For one reason, the world asks more of my clicks, talks, posts, tweets, retweets,
downloads, and uploads. The world needs more of yours.
We do have our own taste. A taste in which we decide what social media sites are we going to deal with. And
just as we said we would, people living in today’s generation use social media applications in order to have what the
world has. They use these sites to be updated and be kept in touch no matter how distant two persons are. They use
social medias in order to know the unknowns and be with friends and families, anytime and anywhere. Teenagers use
these things to entertain themselves.
If a person wants to call someone from far away, he/she usually use Facebook and Skype for online video
call. To know daily updates, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube are very effective. There are still a lot of social media
applications than one can connect with. Whether we like it or not, it became a part of our lives. And just as you
know, we can’t live without it.
Facebook, Twitter, Flickr, Pinterest, WhatsApp, Instagram, Skype, Viber, Snapchat, and YouTube are
considered to be the top ten (10) most used social media applications in the whole world. However, I am not yet
satisfied with the results I had. In order to draw conclusions and find out what is the most dominating application,I
have conducted a survey that relates to this topic.
The St. Lorenzo Ruiz Class has a total of 48 students, 16 students in three rows—first row, second row and
third row. Since I am talking with social media applications, I never wasted an opportunity to ask them what
application/s they usually have. With me are 20 copies of my survey form. I distributed these papers in the middle
row or the second row who has 16 students and selected 4 students from the other row to make it 20. Each person is
allowed to choose three applications only.
These applications have been a comfort zone to all, knowing that we have created different profiles from
what was said. What we feel, we post. What we watch, we subscribe. In all likelihood, it has different effects on our
part as well. One of them is the social effect. What we want, we stalk. What we hate, we bash. And the worst is, we
take it through social media itself. Again, there goes the cliché that we usually say: “Think Before You Click.”
To end the introduction, we should understand that these applications have their own contributions,
depending on what field they are good at. If you have a different story, you can share it to everyone. But all in all,
remember to get it through moral values.

OBJECTIVE

Main Question:
Of all the social media applications out there, which of these do you use most frequently?
Please select all social networks for which you have created a personal profile.
(Select 3 applications ONLY)
 Facebook

 Twitter

 Flickr

 Pinterest

 WhatsApp

 Instagram

 Skype

 Viber

 Snapchat

 YouTube

My main objective is to identify the most controlling social media application in a certain population of
students. Conducted by a survey, it aims to classify which among these ten applications is the lowest and the highest
as well. Since a student uses different kind of social media sites, I only require them to choose three from the ten
options that are shown above.
This is conducted in order to put a hierarchy or ranked them according to number and statistics. There is a
reason why Facebook could be the highest, or it could be the other way around. There is a reason why most of the
selected students prefer Twitter to Instagram. There is a specific reason for each number. It could be based on
cultural, habitual, or the like.
All survey forms are given to students, aged 15 to 16 years old. For this reason, teenagers are linked with
these application. They are the ones who dictate the tempo of social media; thus, they use it most of their own time,
school days or rest days.
The desired results are shown on the next page.

TALLY
Let Facebook be 1(one), Flickr be 2 (two), Instagram be 3 (three), Pinterest be 4(four), Skype be 5(five), Snapchat
be 6(six), Twitter be 7(seven), Viber be 8(eight), WhatsApp be 9(nine), and Youtube be 10 (ten).

3. Instagram 11

4. Pinterest 3

5. Skype 3
6. Snapchat 5

7. Twitter 12

8. Viber 1

9. WhatsApp 1

10. Youtube 10

TOTAL 60

Note: Each person is allowed to choose three (3) applications ONLY. That results to 60.

The table shown above explains the over-all tally rendered by 20 (total size/sample size) students from St.
Lorenzo Ruiz Class. As clearly constructed, there are 10 applications that are listed above. Facebook , with no doubt,
has the highest number of students, making it up to 13 by itself. Twitter has 12 students of its own. Instagram and
Youtube have 11 and 10, respectively. Snapchat, half of Youtube, takes it up to 5 students only. Pinterest and Skype
have 3 students a piece. And last but not the least,Flickr, Viber and WhatsApp have the lowest number of students,
ending it up to only one. And that results to 60.
With no sense of bias or error, the collected data immediately answers the question. Students in the middle
row and 4 other students have completely answered the survey form in an honest manner. The said population made
a statement of truth. Considering the survey form, the papers are properly handled and the tallies are final and exact.
I haven’t encountered any conflicts and differences during the counting of tallies. Under my care, there are no errors
committed by each of the population. As clearly shown, Facebook is the most dominating application.

students selected Instagram. 15% of students selected Pinterest and Skype, respectively.25% of students selected Snapchat.
60 % of students chose Twitter as well. And lastly,50% of students selected YouTube.

CONCLUSION

Based on my research, the question has been answered. Of all these applications, Facebook stood out, making
it to 13. I can therefore say that Facebook is the most widely used application in a population of 20 students. One
thing for sure, Facebook is 65% of 100%. I can also say that it was indeed a proper way to use a survey form in
concluding the said result.
Although Twitter is behind Facebook by only one point and Instagram is also behind Twitter by a point, I can
conclude that it was a tight result. Hence, Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram are the most social media sites used by
an individual. Only five applications are tied. Flickr, Viber and WhatsApp are tied up by only a point. On the other
way around, Pinterest and Skype are tied by 3 apiece.
The presented result is free form error and bias.
