PRESSURE SWITCHES — SERIES GH–900
INTRODUCTION
SWITZER GH Series 900 instruments are suitable
for Air, Gas, Water, Steam, Oil, etc. The sensing
element is a hydraulically formed seamless
phosphor bronze bellows in a brass housing or
316 LSS Bellows in 316 SS housing fixed
external to the robust pressure die cast
weatherproof Aluminium housing.
The range and differential setting screws are
externally accessible. Locking arrangement is
provided on the body to avoid tampering.
MOUNTING / CONNECTIONS / PRECAUTIONS
Mount the instrument rigidly direct on the pressure
piping or on a vibration free wall or panel.
The switching points should normally be in the
mid 35 to 70% of the adjustable range span.
Read the name plate data carefully and do not
exceed maximum working pressure and electrical
ratings.
To make the instrument weatherproof use correct
weatherproof cable gland and ensure its
tightness.
If outdoor installation is envisaged, provided
sufficient protection against aggressiveness of
air, dust, very high or very low temperature,
solar radiation, water penetration etc.
For applications with pressure fluctuations install
a dampener to eliminate chattering of microswitch
and excessive pressure cycling of bellows. For
steam, use a condensor coil or a syphon.
If process temperature is higher than 70°C at
the instrument end, it can be brought down by
using longer pressure piping. Ask factory for
piping nomogram.
Do not establish pressure connections by
rotating the housing. Hold hexagon (20 A/F)
of the sensor housing tight with a suitable
spanner and establish connections.
SETTING OF THE SWITCHING POINTS
Loosen the lock plate screw to unlock the range
adjuster (and also that of the differential
adjustable screw in case of differential model).
Rotate the range adjuster suitably to select the
switching point either for fall in pressure or rise
in pressure.
On adjustable differential models use range screw
to set the lower switching point and then adjust
the differential screw to set the upper switching
point.
Turning the range adjuster anti-clockwise shifts
both upper and lower switching points upwards.
Turning the differential adjuster anti-clockwise
shifts only upper switching point upwards
i.e., the switching pressure difference alone
increases.
The upper switching point should not exceed
maximum range value.
The range scale markings provided are for
approximate settings only. To set switching points
precisely use a master pressure gauge.
Tighten the lock screws.
In instruments with two SPDT switches for DPDT
action, the synchronisation of actuation is done
within practical limits. The switches are
synchronised as per customer preference, either
on “falling” or on “rising” pressure. If no
preference is indicated, synchronisation is done
for FALL in pressure at factory.
