A justice which will not forget that we are all dangerous, & that at the
hour when the executant of justice kills, he is no longer protecting us or seeking to
eliminate a criminal; he is committing his own crime, which he has been
harbouring for a considerable time. At the hour of killing a criminal- at that very
moment, an innocent man is being put to death. No, no, I am not asking for the
sublime, nor for the things which gradually become the words which help me to
sleep peacefully. Those of us who take refuge in the abstract are a mixture of
forgiveness & vague charity. What I want is something much harsher & much
more difficult: I want the terrestrial.” What she is saying in this quote is that no
one should have the right to kill another person for a crime they have done, and
that when someone kills another person they are no longer doing their job, they
are, themselves, committing a crime. Another aspect of this that most don’t
usually consider is, people, especially the government/leading power, is the fact
that this shows fear on their part as well, fear of the people, fear of the
substantiality of their laws, fear of the human races’ power, and even of, our
personality and our thirst for vengeance, aggression and to be the best. All of our
leaders are in constant competition with each other to be the most powerful, the
richest, the cleanest, the smartest, the first to fly in space, basically, to be the
best, and they NEED their country to follow, support and love them to make it
happen, but more than that, they need their country to OBEY them, and the
method with the best results for this is, quite simply, FEAR!

Furthermore, when people say that Capital Punishment need to end, most think of
just the punishment that can be handed out in court, but what they don’t realise is
that it is much more than that. In recent years, many countries have stopped
using the Death Penalty, or so they say, while they do not actually have it as a
punishment for certain offences, countries like the United States of America, have
found ways to get around this particular issue. One of the most obvious examples
of this is the fact that members of the Police Force have permission to shoot-to-kill
upon sighting if they deem the situation dangerous. “Criminals do not die by the
hands of the law. They die by the hands of other men.” A rather straightforward
quote by George Bernard Shaw states, quite simply, that it is not the system of
government, or the law of the country that condemns these criminals to certain
death or even to severe and maybe permanent injury but individual human
beings, our thoughts, our passion, our defensive mechanisms and our instincts to
protect those we claim as our own, and harm those who we perceive as a threat.

All things considered, all versions of the Death Penalty need to be banned. This
can be seen here quite clearly as it goes against the basic Human rights, it is a
preposterous method used to control others and countries are going backwards in
time and bringing it back as it is still considered acceptable in some parts of the
world. Would you be able to sleep easily at night knowing that your daughter, your
son, your husband, your wife, your mum, your dad, your aunt, your uncle, your
niece, your nephew, your cousin were about to be killed, hunted with no chance of
survival for a crime? Come on Australia, you know it’s wrong! It’s time, time to do
something about it, time to stop turning a blind eye, time to stand together and
improve the world!!!
