her head. ("Go on, go on," said Bernard
excitedly.) Some hunters from Malpais had
found her and brought her to the pueblo. As
for the man who was his father, Linda had
never seen him again. His name was
Tomakin. (Yes, "Thomas" was the D.H.C.'s
first name.) He must have flown away, back
to the Other Place, away without her–a bad,
unkind, unnatural man.

Fahrenheit 451 - First Meeting Between Guy and Clarisse
Context: Fahrenheit 451 is another dystopian piece of literature that is focused around the
conformity of mankind; books are illegal and burned, but nobody really seems to remember why.
While there are a few people who try to keep books in secrecy, Guy is pretty adamant that what
they’re doing is for the greater good, at least in the beginning of the book and during the scene
you watch here.
Justify this statement using references from the clip about what he says, how he dresses, his
tone, his demeanor. etc.

world she lives in? Think about the way she speaks (her intonation), what she says, and how she
looks.

Compare and contrast how the writer of Brave New World and the filmmaker of Fahrenheit 451
present the idea of education and reading books; you may also interpret how people react when
they meet others that have different ideas or question their beliefs. Use references from the text
(integrated quotes) and from the film focus on the use of body language, facial expressions,

have encountered as you experienced the “civilized” world. Determine your feelings of the
current environment compared to the reservation. What turning points seemed to have altered
humanity? What discoveries/ technologies have been made that have altered humankind so
