Incremental manpower demand
33% of incremental demand expected in semi-skilled segment, 16% in
skilled segment(2012-22).
Agriculture is anticipated to be the residual employer and generate
30.8% of incremental demand over the period 2012-22 which is the
highest share acrosssectors.
Manufacturing units of primarily mineral/ metal based entities is
anticipated to be the 2nd largest incremental demand generating sector
(12.9%) in state with demand largely in the semi-skilledlevel.
In light of increase in urbanization & focus on infrastructure
development in state, Building and Construction sector is anticipated to
be one of the major contributors in the incremental demand for human
resource over the decade generating approximately 11.0% of the total
incrementaldemand.
Huge resource base of minerals likely to facilitate growth of Mining &
Quarrying sector posing high demand for human resources(10.0%).
WithinIndustrysector,agrobased/foodprocessing(3.0%)sectorandwithinS
ervicessector,tradewhichincludeswholesale&retailbusiness(6.9%),BFSI(
5.0%),communication(3.2%),andpublicadmin.(2.5%)areexpectedtoshow
highermanpowerdemandovertheperiod2012-22.
Incremental demand for manpower in formal sector would come mainly
from Manufacturing (primarily mineral/metal based), Mining & Quarrying,
Building & Construction, BFSI & PublicAdmin.
Majority of demand for incremental manpower in informal sector likely to
come from Agriculture, Building & Construction, Trade (Retail +
Wholesale), Manufacturing (mineral/metal based) & FoodProcessing.
Estimated Incremental Manpower Demand for key sectors
Easy training scope for NIBF (semi-skilled), besides BFSI- Agri, trade, food
processing. Others- hospitality, tourism, medical,
District-level incremental manpower requirements estimation indicates that the districts of Raipur,
Durg, Bilaspur, Korba and Raigarh account for around 47 per cent of the manpower requirement
with most incremental demand to be generated in sectors such as Agriculture, manufacturing(
mineral and metal based), building an construction, mining and quarrying and trade ( wholesale
and retail), it had observed in its report.
In terms of manpower supply, the estimated incremental supply over the aforesaid period is around
34.27 lakh. The proportion of incremental supply of skilled manpower is 55 per cent compared to
27 per cent of semi skilled and 18 per cent of skilled manpower ( 2012-22).
During the period 2012-22, the incremental demand supply of the State to be a surplus of about
3.83 lakhs i.e. the State will have excess of incremental manpower supply. While a shortage of
manpower is likely to be expected across semi-skilled (0.72 lakhs) segment, an excess supply is
estimated in the skilled (1.34 lakhs) and minimally skilled (3.21 lakhs segment), it observed.
