This and every Easter we are reminded that Jesus is very much alive for he
has been raised from the dead for the sake of our eternal lives. May we
celebrate with joy the promise of the resurrection and continue to proclaim
the saving mystery of our faith:
“Christ has died, Christ is Risen, Christ will come Again.”

enhance our worship
Youth for their help with the Easter Egg Hunt and altar serving

EASTER BLESSING OF FAMILIES ~ TODAY

This afternoon, Bishop David Zubik together with his brothers Auxiliary Bishop William
Waltersheid and Retired Auxiliary Bishop William Winter will welcome families of the Dio-
cese of Pittsburgh to the Annual Blessing of Families at Saint Paul Cathedral in Oakland at
2:00 pm. All are welcome to the Cathedral to receive this special Blessing imparted by our
bishops as they also take the opportunity to thank families for the beautiful witness of love
and faith that they share with us.

DIVINE MERCY SUNDAY ~ NEXT SUNDAY

The Holy Name Society and Catholic Men's Fellowship invite all to come cele-
brate The Feast of Divine Mercy next Sunday, April 8th at 3:00pm in the Church.
We will pray the chaplet of Divine Mercy for peace in our world, venerate the im-
age of Divine Mercy ,and spend a few silent moments with our Lord in thanking
him for all his mercy and blessings he has given us.

Fish Fry Thank You

We offer a special word of thanks to Deacon Al and all those who volunteered
to help with our Ash Wednesday and Fridays of Lent Fish Fries. The food of-
fered was delicious and plentiful and the profits from the fund raiser were
very beneficial to the parish! Thank you all!

Ladies of Charity—Bakeless Bake Sale

Next weekend, April 7th & 8th, the Ladies of Charity will be passing out envelopes before all
Masses for their annual “Bake less” Bake Sale Fundraiser...

Altar Rosary/Christian Mothers

Members of St. Damien ARCM are reminded that our meeting takes place tomorrow, Monday,
April 2nd in Father Abbate Hall. We are having Covered Dish & Guest night. Members are
to bring a side dish, salad or dessert to share. All ladies of the parish who might be interested
in joining ARCM are invited to attend this meeting. The Rosary will be recited at 6:30 pm
with the meeting to follow. Members bringing nonperishable items for the Food Bank will re-
ceive a second door prize ticket. Our guest speaker for the evening will be Father Don Chor-
tos who will speak to us about the Shroud of Turin. A good attendance is requested. April So-
cial will be Shirley Amon, Gert Wiliuszis and Alice Jozefczyk.

Man Up Meeting
The Man Up men’s group will meet on Wednesday, April 4th at 7:00pm in Fr. Abbate Hall/
St. Anthony School Bldg., Park Avenue. All men of the parish are invited to attend.

Vacation Bible School Organizational Meeting

A Vacation Bible School organizational meeting will be held on Tuesday, April
10, 2018 at 6:30pm in the Parish Center. We will discuss when and how we are
going to do Vacation Bible School. This meeting is open to all who would like to
help at VBS. (Teachers, Aids, High School helpers, crafters, etc.)

Attention Volunteers:
All volunteers are required to attend a Protecting God's Children Workshop. Volunteers who work
closely with children are also required to take the Mandated Reporter Training workshop. These are
two separate workshops. Many volunteers have attended Protecting God's Children workshop previ-
ously. We appreciate you and know that your time is valuable, but the Mandated Reporter training
requirement was set forth two years ago by the diocese. If you have any questions or need clarifica-

Marriage Preparation Class
Couples planning on celebrating the
Sacrament of Marriage are asked to
note that the Marriage Preparation Class for
our District will be held on Saturday, April 7,
2018 from 8:30am-6:00pm at Our Lady of
the Valley Parish in Donora. The day starts
with a continental breakfast at 8:30am, class
begins at 9:00am. The class will end with all
attending the 5:00pm Mass at Our Lady of
the Valley together. The class will be con-
ducted by Deacon Al and RaeAnn Poroda.
Completion of Marriage Preparation Class is

Pastoral Impressions

ALLELUIA! ALLELUIA!
ALLELUIA!
Happy Easter Everyone! AL-
LELUIA! HE IS RISEN! It is so wonderful
to gather and celebrate as a people of faith, to
celebrate an incredible sacred mystery, a mys-
tery beyond any thing we can imagine or hope
for, a mystery which clearly shows the im-
mense power of love over everything else.
This is a mystery which reveals to us a God
who loves us in ways we can’t even begin to
understand, wants the very best for each of us,
knows what we are going through---and is
willing to do whatever it takes to keep us close
to him and to one another. That is the loving
God who is intimately connected to and in-
volved with our lives and our world. And so
we rejoice! Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!
Sometime we are burdened with sufferings
and difficulties and we think that no one cares.
Today is a day to put those thoughts aside ,
put them to rest, and instead recognize and
trust in and rejoice in an image of God unlike
any god humankind has ever imagined or tried
to understand. For God to do what he did, he
must love us beyond our wildest imagination.
For God to suffer as he did he must want to
know in a concrete way what we feel like
when we are hurting. For God to allow him-
self to die he must want us to know that he is
willing to go anywhere and do anything for us
---that love conquers all and that no matter
what happens in this life, we have nothing to
fear. Love wins. Life wins. God wins.
And so, we rejoice, for this is GOOD
NEWS—the very best kind of news. May this
day fill you with a peace and joy beyond your
wildest expectations. We are not alone. Never
have been. NEVER WILL BE. Believing that
deeply changes everything. Alleluia! He is
Risen!
