instead of simply taking a paper/ pencil test.
Representation: Students can represent learning and present knowledge through their assessment score. The
higher the score, the better the student understands the material and vice versa.

Describe the instructional activities that will occur PRIOR to the SRT activity and how you will introduce
the SRT activity.
 Before this assessment, the students will explore the states of matter by sorting various objects/
pictures of states of matter bases on their attributes.
 For additional support, students will also watch a video discussing the states of matter.
 Students will also complete a States of Matter Booklet, providing examples, pictures and definitions
of the states of matter.

Briefly describe what will happen DURING the SRT activity:
I will provide the students with their tablets. They will take the online quiz quietly and independently. After all
students have completed the assessment, we will go over the answers as a class and look at the overall class
scores.

Describe what will happen AFTER the SRT activity?
We will go over the answers from the quiz and discuss why we believe some answers were right/ some were
wrong. We will address and discuss any misconceptions of the questions on the quiz.
How will the data be used? I will use the data collected from the quiz see what students need additional
support or re-teaching of the subject matter. If a majority of my students score poorly, we may need to spend
more time on the subject matter and address it in a different way. If most students are not understanding the
content, I need to go back and change my lesson to meet their needs.

Describe your personal learning goal for this activity? Using the Socrative assessment tool, I want to see if as
a teacher, my lessons will benefit from having the additional time to spend planning interactive and engaging
materials instead if grading. With this tool, I can instantly see the progress of my students with a click of a
button.
Reflective Practice: Overall, I believe this lesson is interactive, hands- on and engaging. Students get to
physically touch and explore the states of matter instead of simply discussing it or looking at pictures. After
exploring, students can take this knowledge and create a booklet to study with and refer back to. If my
students still need additional support, we can watch a video about the states of matter. As a formative
assessment to check for understanding, students will take a quiz on Socrative. I think it is beneficial to
students to practice typing on the free response question and simply work on the iPad and with technology in
general.
