Kingwood Hotel Mukah, opened for business on July 1st, 2008. The 200-room
business hotel is located at Lot 1004, Block 68, Mukah Land District (Newtown
Area). It is just a few minutes walking distance to the bus terminal and the mosque
and less than 10 minutes walking distance to the impressive 10-storey Mukah
Divisional Administrative Centre, Menara Pehin Setiaraja. From the old town area
and the wharf, it is about 15 minutes walking distance.
2. Wiring System
DB for bedroom electricity is separated with the other components such as air-
conditioning switch. Every level has its own DB room. Kingwood Hotel Mukah uses
DB 3 phase for its building, excluding the bedrooms. Meanwhile, the bedrooms use
single phase DB system.
Every section of the building, for example, the kitchen, office, bedrooms,
lobby and function rooms, have their own DB. The kitchen itself has its own DB,
specifically for chiller.
Below are some minimum steps should take to ensure electrical safety.
Mains supplies :
Good practices :
Use other forms of power where possible Electrical risks can sometimes be eliminated
by using air, hydraulic or hand-powered tools. There are especially useful in harsh
conditions, but remember they could introduce other hazards:
Reduce the voltage using lower voltages can reduce or eliminate the risks of electric
shock and burns.
i. Portable tools are available which can be run from a 110 volts, centre-tapped-to-earth
supply, (usually from a transformer)
ii. Where electrically powered tools are used, battery-operated are safest.
iii. Temporary lighting can be run at lower voltages, e.g. 12, 25, 50 or 110 volts.

AIR-CONDITIONING SYSTEM
Air-conditioning system at Kingwood Hotel Mukah is not under the responsibility of their
technicians. Air-conditioning repairman will be contacted.
TIMES SQUARE MEGAMALL BINTULU
Times Square Megamall Bintulu, Sarawak is one of the largest mall ever built
in Sarawak. The completion of this building was on February 2015. It was once suggested to
be built with the combination of a hotel and mall. The mall concept is leisure, where it is very
suitable for family activities. This mall is actually still under construction where Golden
Screen Cinemas and bowling will be constructed soon.
2) ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
The electrical system used by this building is depends on the shops and
franchise. Shops such as boutiques and clothing use single phase system, while the
others such as Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC), coffee shop and other which needs a
huge amount of electric supply use 3 phase system. This is because they need
equipments which consume a lot of electricity. There are a total of 240 single phase
board inside the building.
3) AIR-CONDITIONING SYSTEM
From the 1st until 3rd floor, the air handling unit (AHU) contains 3 chillers
weighed 350 tonnes, 8 pumps, 4 cooling tower and condenser unit and 1 large chiller
weighed 550 tonnes. For the upcoming GSC and bowling, there will be a total of 12 to
14 AHU be added.

4) Safety procedures and rules related to electrical system and air-
conditioning system
Below are some minimum steps should take to ensure electrical safety.
Mains supplies :
vi. Install new electrical systems to BS 7671 Requirements for Electrical Installations
vii. Maintain all electrical installations in good working order.
viii. Provide enough sockets-outlets for equipment in use.
ix. Provide an accessible and clearly identified switch (Emergency Off or EMO button)
near fixed machinery to cut off power in an emergency.
x. For portable equipment, connect to nearby socket-outlets so that it can easily
disconnected in an emergency.
Good practices :
Use other forms of power where possible Electrical risks can sometimes be eliminated
by using air, hydraulic or hand-powered tools. There are especially useful in harsh
conditions, but remember they could introduce other hazards:
Reduce the voltage using lower voltages can reduce or eliminate the risks of electric
shock and burns.
iv. Portable tools are available which can be run from a 110 volts, centre-tapped-to-earth
supply, (usually from a transformer)
v. Where electrically powered tools are used, battery-operated are safest.
vi. Temporary lighting can be run at lower voltages, e.g. 12, 25, 50 or 110 volts.
i. Disconnect All Power Sources – please be sure to disconnect all electrical power to
the unit before you remove any of the access panels or attempt to perform any
maintenance procedures. Always remember that there may be more than one power
connection switch. If you are ensure about this do not attempt to perform any
procedure. Instead get a professional to assist you.
ii. Beware of Sharp Edges – be very careful when you handle part or reach into units.
Many of metal parts and housing have very sharp edges which can cause severe
injury.
iii. Follow All Safety Procedure – Follow all safety precaution suggested by the
manufacturer of the equipment.
iv. Use common sense – if something seems dangerous don’t do it. Instead consult a
professional.

CONCLUSION
As a general conclusion, the building service is Kingwood Hotel Mukah and Times Square
Megamall Bintulu is efficient and sufficient. A majority of the components adhere to their basic
requirement and follow the Uniform Building By-Law codes and the MS 1525 requirement.
Through this assignment, we are now able to identify the components and the systems
involved in the following building services : mechanical ventilation and air conditioning, electrical
supply system, mechanical transportation system and fire protection system. We are also able to
identify the estimate dimension of the component and the spaces required for these components.
