Universal Design for Learning (UDL): This activity is great for students who have a hard time opening up and
engaging in classroom discussions. The teacher can print a report of student’s responses and see where they
stand in understanding the lesson.
Describe the instructional activities that will occur PRIOR to the SRT activity and how you will introduce
the SRT activity.
Before the Kahoot! Activity students will have been studying The various US. Capitals and states I have
provided. This activity will be used at the end of the week to prepare students for a test.
Describe the purpose of the SRT activity (check all that apply):
☒ Assess prior knowledge ☐ Anticipatory set (Create interest in a topic) ☐ To illuminate common
misconceptions ☒ Formative assessment of content knowledge (for purpose of differentiation and
mastery for ALL students) ☐ Summative assessment of content knowledge ☐ Test preparation
☐ Survey/Poll ☐ Discussion starter ☐ “Homework” collection ☐ Other (please explain):
Briefly describe what will happen DURING the SRT activity: Students will be instructed to pull out their
mobile devices (smart phones or tablets). They will go on Kahoot.it and log on using my game pin number.
The game will start and the top 5 students at the end of the game with the highest point’s will earn extra
credit points on the test.
If you are unable to provide a working sample of your questions, please list them below (8-10):
Describe your personal learning goal for this activity. From this activity I hope that the students will be
motivated to study their states and capitals so that they can make an A on the test. I’m hoping that they also
have fun with the Kahoot game. Based on their responses to the game, I will be able to implement these
activities more throughout the year if they wish.
Reflective Practice: To further extend the lesson, students can be asked to submit a project based off of the
information for more extra credit. The project can be a research project on a State and Capital of their choice.
They must conduct research on the history of that capital, famous people who have come from that state,
things to do, and historic landmarks. They will present the project to their class peers and it will be displayed
on a poster board.
