Unit 6: Media Campaigns

Activity 1 – Audience Research

1. Who is your audience?

2. Primary research and findings

 My target audience is teenagers between the year groups of year 9 and year 11 who are
deciding what course/s to take in GCSE’s or A level. Mainly targeted at teenagers who
attend bishop Challenor School however for the A-level/BTEC teenagers who attend other
schools will targeted
also.
In the survey I found out that a large majority of the participants were 17-18 and that their
least favourite social media platform is Facebook. It was also discovered that there
expected and favoured content is funny, humorous posts.

Activity 2 – Responding to the Commission

1. What is the purpose of the commission?

2. What is the ethos and reputation of the client?
3. What is the message of your campaign?
4. What geographical/demographical opportunities are there?
5. What are the restrictions on the client?

 The purpose of the campaign is to promote the premiere of my film ‘Define Perfect’
which will be displayed at the Bishop Challenor’s Media Studies showcase on Friday
the 30th of December 2017.
 The reasoning of the showcase is to encourage KS4 and KS5 to attend and get a
better understanding and knowledge of the subject and consider selecting the
course for their next year in school.
 This showcase not only educates the teens but illustrates that if deciding to take the
course they would have support. Youths who are ambitious and creative but are not
as fortunate as other teenagers would when taking these non-compulsory courses.
Being a teen in the creative industry is a disadvantage in today’s society as it is
perceived as having a lack of experience and intelligence. Especially when
attending a federation in the poorest borough in London

Statistics, Demographics and Geographic

In 2008 69,823 students chose media studies as a GCSE and since then the numbers have
been descending

Throughout secondary research I was able to discover vital factors about the borough inn
which the showcase will be held at.
The population of Tower Hamlets was last recorded in 2015 and within doing so it was
revealed that the Borough was populated by 304,900 residents. London as whole holds
approximately 9,000,000 people (rounded from 8.788 million), so generally 1 person in
every 30, are housed and registered by Tower Hamlets borough. An area with such a high
population would be the perfect location for the showcase as it expose the benefits and
relevance of media to a larger audience.
Activity 3 – Proposal

 Detailed schedule for the campaign from one month before the Genesis launch
party where your film is being shown.
 Use the grid

Activity 4 – Justification of Proposal

■ What platforms will you use to promote your media showcase and film premiere.
■ Why have you selected these platforms?
■ What will be the company’s slogan?
■ How will you use each of the platforms you have identified?
■ What examples of cross-media promotion will there be?
I selected these platform why these platforms (Instagram , Facebook, twitter, Posters and
Flyers) because it will result in me having cross media throughout my campaign. Not only this
but there will be a great use of syneregy. The poster will be used to firstly inform the audience
and the social media accounts and the leaflets to keep them engaged. I will represent my
logo on all platforms.
Inserted in my bio will be the hashtags #medTEC and #ChallenorTalents just to reming
viewers that they can share their work.
