OBEJCTIVE The students will know what Dia de los Muertos is and the traditions
surrounding it, as well as some vocabulary related to this Holiday.

Question sheets on article
Vocab Sheets
Balloons

HOOK “¿Alguien sabe que es el Día de los Muertos?”

TIMELINE Hook and a little pre discussion about Día de los Muertos to see how
much they know (10 minutes)
Hand out vocab sheets
¿Alguien sabe que es el Día de los Muertos?
¿Tienes preguntas sobre el vocabulario?
¿Hay preguntas antes del articulo?
Go over important Vocab connected to Día de los Muertos (5
minutes)
Get students into 5 groups and hand out article and question sheet
(2 minutes)
It is one article with 5 maneras de celebrar, everyone gets the intro
and conclusion but each group only gets one manera
Make sure they understand what they are doing
Have them begin reading and discussing their articles (15 minutes)

Get back as class and discuss different articles (15 minutes)

If they want we can watch the video while they are working

MODIFICATIONS Clarify everything in English and Spanish for ELL students

CLOSURE: Why did we make these Calaveras?

EVALUATION: Can anyone tell me what makes Día de los Muertos different from
Halloween?
