Corrective maintenance
Corrective maintenance activity
The network maintenance is based on the supervision of the network, by using the OAM
graphical interface. For more information, see Alcatel-Lucent 9353 Wireless Management
System - User Guide, NN-20500-032.
It is also based on the identification and replacement of faulty items of equipment, using
the alarms.
The process consists of two steps:
1. Locating and identifying the faulty RRH 2X60W through alarms at the OMC. See
"Fault management" chapter in Alcatel-Lucent 9353 Wireless Management System -
User Guide, NN-20500-032.
2. Replacing the faulty RRH 2X60W following the replacement procedure detailed in
this publication.

LED description (STATUS)
The RTU has one or more external LEDs to provide a visual summary of RTU status.
Each LED can be in one of three states- Off, Flashing, or On. The RTU status is indicated
by the composite setting of the LED display.
The table below summarizes these states in priority order, from highest (1) to lowest (13).
If more than one display setting is indicated by the currently active alarms then the
highest priority condition is displayed. Later tables show the mapping of alarms to these
RTU LED states.
Note that one states in the table is marked as not applicable (‘n/a’) for the single LED
display (Background download). In these cases no LED setting is assigned and so the
LED setting defaults to the next lower priority active setting.

Inspecting gaskets
Before you begin
The cabinet gaskets are located on the body and on the service door of the RRH. The
RRH does not operate when their body gasket is damaged or unstuck. Only the gasket on
the service door needs an inspection.
Carry out the following procedure to inspect the gasket on the RRH 2X60W service door.
Note: The RRH 2X60W remains supplied with the mains power supply.
Intervention time: five minutes
Tools required: none

practices and the safety warnings may lead to bodily injury and property damage.
For this reason, only trained and qualified personnel (electrical workers as defined in
IEC 60215 or EN 60215 + A1 or in the National Electrical Code or in ANSI/NFPA

NOTICE
Service-disruption hazard
This procedure will result in service disruption. Notify the OMC administrator of a
service outage before commencing.
NOTICE
ESD hazard
Electronic components can be destroyed by electrostatic discharge (ESD). Hold circuit
packs only at the edges or on the insertion and removal facilities. Always observe the
general ESD instructions.
Important! The personnel working on the cabinet must be authorized to work
according to the security standards.

European Union Environmental Directives (EUED)
The RRH is manufactured according to the following two European Union
Environmental Directives:
• Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS), 2002/95/EC
The RoHS directive restricts the use of lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent
chromium, poly-brominated biphenyls (PBB) and poly-brominated diphenyl ethers
(PBDE) in electrical and electronic products. This directive applies to all electrical
and electronic products placed on the European Union (EU) and European Economic
Area (EEA) markets after July 1, 2006, with certain exemptions, including an
exemption for lead solder in network infrastructure equipment.
• Waste of Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE), 2002/96/EC
The WEEE directive mandates the necessary treatment of such equipment when it
enters end-of-life. It specifically identifies requirements for recycling, reuse, and
disposal.
