Krill oil is obtained from Euphausia superba, a small crustacean that

resembles shrimp. Krill is rich in Essential Fatty Acids, especially omega 3 fatty
acids- eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA). It also
contains the powerful antioxidant carotenoid astaxanthin. It helps prevent
oxidation of the omega 3 fatty acids providing anti-inflammatory protection.
Krill oil has been effective in reducing total cholesterol, low-density
lipoprotein (LDL - bad cholesterol), triglycerides while increasing
high-density lipoprotein (HDL - good cholesterol). Omega-3 fatty acids are
well recognized to play a crucial role in normal growth and development,
memory, circulation and overall cognitive performance.
EPA and DHA are the metabolic precursors to Resolvins and Protectins,
which are termed as “resolvers of inflammation” meaning they help rebuild
the tissue damage due to inflammation.
