Assignment 2

Reflection:

1. I plan lessons and assessment based on provincial curriculum… throughout the unit the instructional
methods as well as their assessments are designed to build the knowledge, skills, and respect that is
need for the summative assessment. The lessons will incorporate technology, and activities that will
help develop their skill to develop a visual/oral presentation. Students will be able to demonstrate the
ability to exchange information through class discussion.
2. I make student-learning goals for each lesson/task…. I strive have goals throughout this unit that
creates an engaged students that want to become more knowledgeable about the world around them.
To motivate these students to further increase the willingness to explore more cultures around the
world.
3. I know which instructional strategies to pick at given times…throughout the unit, the instructional
strategies will move from lecture style to group discussion to independent work periods. The strategies
will vary based on the activities that are planned for each lesson which are related to the outcomes for
the lesson.
4. My lessons are ready to be used…. The lesson begins with lecture style to introduce the unit; moves to
think pair share activities to engage the students in their background knowledge of the topic, then
moves into a class discussion. The lesson relies on the students to be engaged in the content in order to
have an energetic discussion. Using students own background knowledge, will hopefully allow them to
want to participate in the discussion, but in order to do that it is important that the classroom is a safe
environment.
5. I create formative assessments… the end of each lesson will finish with a exit slip which will help show
the understanding of the material that will be crucial in the growth of students conceptualizing the
content of the lesson.
6. I set and use goals for enhancing my professional development… Each lesson in the unit will have a
PGP attached to it. This will allow me to evaluate my growth as a teacher. Each lesson will finish with a
professional reflection to see how I can improve on the delivery of the lesson. The unit will be designed
to have room for revisions that will improve its overall quality and allow for more effective
differentiation.

7. I understand how to plan for differentiation and adaptation…throughout the unit, students will be
given multiple ways in which they feel comfortable presenting their oral/visual assignment. Specific
adaptations will be met for students who choose a culture that can be a sensitive subject. Students will
be given the option of assistive technology to help with their project as well.
8. I create engaging learning activities and tasks… during this unit students will be asked to be engaged in
class discussion activities and booklets will be given to the students to help create a deeper
understanding of their own culture. Students will be asked to create an artistic visual or oral
representation of a specific culture of their choice.
9. My planned activities would improve the discipline specific literacy skills of my students… Students
will be working through work booklets that require brainstorming for their final project throughout the
unit. I will revise these booklets during the unit. Students will be engaged in using technology for
research, and through this unit students will be developing their speaking, reading and writing skills
through formative assessments throughout the unit.
