FORM 3.7. MANAGEMENT OF PROJECT, WORK METHODOLOGY AND


DELIVERABLES

I. MANAGEMENT OF PROJECT & WORK METHODOLOGY

We are The Contractor as requested in the Term of Reference herewith attached our
management of project, work methodology and deliverable of equipments which sets
out in detail the resources and methods that we propose to use for each activity
required to be undertaken to perform the Services.
Management of the project will handle by all personnel under coordination of Projects
Coordinator (handle from Head Office) and Site Manager / Field Coordinator (handle
directly in site). Close & continuous coordination between head office and site will
result the project success and minimize problems occurred.

Generally, our management of project will consist of:

1. Available quality control programs mentioned detail in our ISO procedures will be
used to execute the work and to ensure our delivered works are conformed to
National quality Standards and all work activities are under control.

2. Standard Operating Procedure of each work stage.

The following description explained briefly concerning our management plan and work
methodology.

1. SCOPE OF WORK

1.1 The work to be performed consist of furnishing all labor, equipment and
materials, licenses and technical services and supervision necessary in
performing any and all work required for the following (partially is unused):

(1) Drilling, sampling, and testing of exploration holes.


(2) Installation and monitoring of observation wells.
(3) Excavation and sampling of test pits.
(4) Sealing, boxing, storing and transporting of samples.
(5) Backfilling of test pits and bore holes.
(6) Site clean-up and demobilization.
(7) Plate bearing test.
(8) Installation of Bench Mark
(9) Topographical Survey

(10) Preparation of complete soil boring logs and records of the field
operations and furnishing the same to the Owner on a daily basis as the
work are performed.
(11) Preparation and submission to the Owner of a plan of as drilled, boring
locations, all boring logs and reports required by this specification.

1.2 Sampling and Testing in Overburden. This may include the following :

(1). Cone Penetration Test


(2). Standard Penetration Test and taking of disturbed and / or undisturbed
soil samples
(3). Understanding thin walled tube samples
(4). Determination of in-situ permeability by means of failing or constant
head test in cased boreholes.
(5). Installation and monitoring of observation wells.
(6). Taking of disturbed and/or undisturbed bulk samples in test pits.

1.3 In case where rain come down, full protective will be taken to performed, the
work.

When there is heavy rain, field exploration will be stopped if deems necessary
base on instruction by the Owner.

2. MATERIAL AND EQUIPMENT

The Contractor will maintain sufficient equipment, materials, parts, tools and
supplies to meet the requirement for the work. All equipment will be capable of
securing satisfactory samples of the required diameters at the required drilling
depths.
All accessories for drilling, sampling and water testing such as casing, drill rods, drill
bits, piping, pumps, meters, gauges and other materials or necessary for the work,
will be furnished by Contractor.
The equipment will be in satisfactory operating condition and capable of performing
the work set fort herein safety and efficiently. The equipment will be subject to
inspection by the Owner at all times and deemed unsatisfactory will be removed
from the work site and replaced by satisfactory equipment.

3. PERSONNEL

All manpower required to execute the drilling program will be furnished by the
Contractor. A competent general foreman or Chief Bore Master will be designated
which on be half of the Contractor will have responsible charge of the drilling

equipment at all times.

4. SAFETY

The Contractor will conduct the work with due regard for safety. The Contractor will
also take measures to ensure public safety as well as the safety of employees and
will take all measures required to comply with applicable laws and regulations. It is
specially emphasized that no drill mast will be raised within 15 M of any overhead.

5. SANITARY AND MEDICAL REQUIREMENT

Contractor will, at its expenses, maintain all portions of the work in at neat, clean
and sanitary condition at all times. Toilets will be furnished and maintained by and
at the expense of Contractor where needed for use of employees on the work and
their use will be strictly enforced. Toilets will be properly secluded from public
observation and will be located, constructed and maintained subject to any
applicable local ordinances and subject to approval by the Owner and by authorities
having jurisdiction.

First-aid facilities and supplies will be kept on the work site as required by
government regulation and Contractor will provide and maintain all measures
required by said regulations for the safety and protection of employer, all by and at
the expense of Contractor.

6. FIRE PREVENTION

All reasonable precaution will be taken to prevent fires. Each drill rig and vehicle
will also be equipped with a satisfactory commercial type fire extinguisher.
Contractor will familiarized and comply with all applicable federal, state and local
fire regulations.

7. ACCESS ROAD

We have no information regarding site situation for examples, climate,


geomorphology of the project area, access road availabilities & condition, etc.
Contractor will provide its own means of moving equipment to the location of each
hole by Crews when the investigations points are less then 100 m distance from the
location where the equipments have possibilities dropped by 4 (four) wheel drive
car. When necessary new access road, bridges or other means of access for local
moving of Soil Investigations equipments, it will be proposed to provide by the
Owner.
The Contractor may use available existing road with permission and approval of

local regulation and it will be provided and financed by the Owner.

8. MEALS AND LOCAL TRANSPORTATION FOR PERSONNEL & EQUIPMENT

Considering the unclear site situation, we proposed supplying & delivery of meals, 4
(four) wheels drive cars and local transportation of personnel & equipment will be
provide and financed by the Owner.

9. WATER SUPPLY

Basically, water supply for drilling operations will be responsibility of Contractor to solve
all water necessary to perform the work, but when no water available on / or near /
surrounding the bore hole point, it will be provided and financed by the Owner.

10. CLEAN-UP

The work areas will be kept in at neat and orderly condition at all times. On
completion of the work, Contractor will remove its rigs, all surplus and unused
material and material removed from the holes and will leave the area in a clean
condition, all to the satisfaction to the Owner.
Except for observation wells, Contractor will remove all casing and every hole and
test will be completely backfield as specified.

11. INVESTIGATION DETAILS

11.1 . Codes and Standards

Unless otherwise specified, soil sampling and test procedures will be in


accordance with the latest revisions of the standards of the American Society
for Testing and Materials (ASTM)

11.2 . Location, Number and Depth of Explorations

11.2.1 The approximate locations of exploratory boring are by the Owner.


Test pit location will be selected at site by the Owner.
Such borings and test pits will be made to determine subsurface
conditions and to obtain disturb or bulk soil samples, disturbed or
undisturbed soil samples for laboratory testing.
Boring will be backfill either with cement / “betonite” grout or soil as
directed by the Owner. Test pits will be backfill with excavated
materials.

11.2.2 The approximate estimated quantities of the proposed work and


depth of exploration are designed by the Owner. These quantities
are subject to change at the direction of the Owner.
11.2.3 The actual location, number and depth of borings, test pits and
number of test samples may be modified by the Owner, depending
on the subsurface conditions encountered during the field
investigation phase.

11.3 . Drilling in Overburden

11.3.1 Exploration borings will be drilled with a rotary type machine


equipped with a hydraulic feed and capable of sewing satisfactory
samples of the required diameters as all drilling depth. All
accessories for drilling, such as casing, drilling rods, piping, pumps,
drilling fluid additives.
Water and all other materials or supplies necessary for the work
and all manpower required to supervise will be perform by
Contractor.
11.3.2 When gravel, boulders, abandoned man-made obstacle or any
other type of obstruction are encountered borings suitable methods
will be used as drill through such obstruction. If this is not possible,
the hole may be relocated as directed by the Owner.
11.3.3 Casing will be used when necessary to keep the boring open and
enable the boring to be advanced. Drilling may be used in lieu of
casing the soil portion of borings except for those borings in which
field observation wells are required. Casing will not be abandoned
in any boring unless specifically approved by the Owner.

11.4 . Sampling in Overburden

11.4.1 General

Before taking samples all loose and disturbed materials will be


removed from the borings. Between sampling elevations the boring
will be advanced by conventional drilling methods in such a manner
to prevent disturbance coring will be used. Soil sampling will be
accomplished in advance of the casing at all times.

11.4.2 Cone Penetration Test

The test is performed by pushing the standard cone according to


ASTM designation D-3441 with a 60° point and base dia. 35.7 mm

with cross section area of 10 cm2 into the ground at the rate of 1 –
to 20 mm/s.
The test may be periodically halted to attach 1 m rods to extend
the depth, however some push configurations allow extra length of
rod for a nearly continuous push.

11.4.3 Standard Penetration Test

The test performed base on ASTM designation D-1586 and consist


of main activities as follow:
(a) Driving standard split-barrel samples.
(b) Using hammer 63.5 kg and free fall from height of 760 mm
(c) Counting the number of blow to drive the sampler the last 305
mm to obtain the N number.

No of blow counts & N-SPT value and depth of tests execution


should be noted clearly in the boring log.

11.4.4 Undisturbed Soil Samples

(1) Thin-walled tubes either with a shellby tube sampler or a


stationary piston type sampler capable of obtaining undisturbed
soil samples in accordance with ASTM designation D-1587.
During sampling, the tube will be pushed into the ground by a
continuous and rapid motion, without impact to twisting.

(2) The driller will exercise proper care and identify the type of
materials being drilled so that appropriate sampling procedure
can be used. In general, the Owner will usually expect thin
walled samples not shorter than 300 mm in length in all cohesive
soils.

11.4.5 Sampling Depth

The depths at which undisturbed samples are to be taken will be


designated by the Owner / Geotechnical Engineer, but in general,
maximum sampling interval will be approximately 3 m. Continuous
sampling may be requested between specified depth at the
direction of the Owner representative / Geotechnical Engineer.

11.4.6 Jar Samplers

Representative jar samples will be taken from all split spoon


samples and from the lower end of all undisturbed tube samples.
Jar will be tightly sealed, completely labeled as to depth, boring
number and location.

11.5 . Test Pits

Test pit will be excavated by hoe-like tool at the locations and to the depths
to be designated by the Owner / Geotechnical Engineer. All side pit walls will
be protected to prevent soil collapse.

11.6 . Sample Treatment

Undisturbed samples will be treated with extreme case at all times and will
not be dropped, jarred or vibrated in any way. All sample tube will be kept
appropriately sealed and not subjected to hot temperatures. All sample
containers will be clearly labeled with job number, boring and sample
number as well as depth, blow count and length of recovery and will be
protected against exposure and damage.

Contractor will prepare and box all samples in a suitable manner to allow
safe transportation to a laboratory without damage or disturbance.

11.7 . Ground Water Observation Wells

General

Certain exploratory drill holes as designated by the Owner may be prepared


as observation wells to monitor ground water level. Such hole will be
designated prior to drilling and will be constructed as per the following
specifications.
After completion of drilling, an observation pipe with a well screen at its
lower most section will be set in the hole to a depth designated by the
Owner. Clean, free draining material will be placed in the annular space to a
height at least 1.5 m above the upper most perforations of the screen
section. An impermeable seal the gravel will be required in holes where
artesian pressures are encountered.

Drilling Agent

The use of bentonite or other clay base drilling agent will not be permitted in
drilling exploratory holes designated as observation wells. However, organic,
self destroying, biodegradable fluid additives, may be used as approved by
the Owner.

Washing Hole

The observation holes will be thoroughly washed to clean any mud from the
hole. This will be done by circulating water through observation pipe, then
returning it to the surface in the annular space. Washing will commence
while placing the gravel pack and circulation will continuous until the return
water is free of mud.

Observation Pipe

Tubing used in observation holes will be two inch nominal diameter and will
be of standard pipe as PVC or similar tubing subject to approval by the
Owner.

Screen

A designated section of a tubing in each observation hole will be made of a


manufactured well screen of two inch nominal diameter pipe size slotted
transversely. The width of the slots will be 1 mm and may be manufactured
or machine slotted.

Screen will have a minimum open area of one square inch per foot of length.
Unless otherwise specified, the screen will be 6.0 m long. Each screen will be
fitted with a minimum 1.5 m length of blank casing beneath it to serve as a
sump.

Bottom Plug

The observation pipe will be sealed at the bottom with a cap.

Sand Pack

Material placed in the annular space will be clean, washed sand with 100
percent passing a No. 4 U.S. Standard Series sieve and not more that five
percent passing a No. 100 U.S. Standard Series sieve. In general, this

material will extend 1.5 m above the screen.

Seal

The seal above the sand pack will consist of impervious material, to use
cement grout, or as specified by the Owner.

Surface Protection

To protect the observation well from damage and prevent plugging the pipe
with foreign material, a surface protective casing will be set over the pipe to
a depth of at least 1.5 m below ground surface and will extend at least 0.6
m above ground level. The casing will be clean, straight and free of
obstruction.

The protection casing will be standard polyvinyl chloride (PVC) pipe or steel
pipe of comparable strength and corrosion resistance with nominal diameter
of six inches and will be provided with a threaded cap. The protective casing
will be set in cement grout or concrete to a depth of 0.6 m.

Construction

In order to accommodate the surface casing, the hole will be drilled with
minimum diameter of 200 mm to a depth of 1.5 meter. The balance of the
hole will be drilled to at least 100 mm diameter to a depth of at least 1.5 m
below the selected depth to be screened.

The final depth of the hole will be measured. The sum section of blank
casing below the screen will be cut so that it will rest on the bottom of the
hole when the screen is at the required depth. The bottom of the sump will
be lowered into the hole. Core will be exercised to avoid damaging the
screen of casing.

When coupling the section together, the ends of the casing and screen will
be carefully cleaned before applying the cement and use of excess cement
will be avoided. The assembly will be held at the top until the sand pack and
seal have been placed to avoid damaging the screen.

As soon as the casing and screen are in place, clean water will be slowly
pumped into the riser casing. The pumping of clean water will continue until
the drilling fluid is slowly displaced from the casing and hole trough the
annular space to the ground surface. The sand for the sand pack will be

poured into the annular space between the riser casing and surface casing
as soon as the viscosity of the drilling fluid is reduced enough for most of the
sand to sink. The cleaning of the hole will continue at a slow rate until all of
the sand pack is in place. The sand pack will extend at least 1.5 m above the
top of the screen.

After the sand pack is place, a seal consisting of impervious material cement
grout will be placed above the sand. If the seal to be grout, a tremie pipe or
hose will be inserted in the hole above the sand.
Flushing with water will be stopped and the annular space between the riser
casing and the side of the hole above the sand pack will be grouted to the
surface.

After grout has set and drilling fluid breaks down, each observation well will
be flushed with clean water. “Fast Break” or other approved material may be
used to expedite break down of drilling fluid additive.

Upon completion, each observation well will be water tested to confirm that
the well is operative and to determine the permeability of the material
surrounding the screen. One of two methods may be selected by the Owner.

A pressure gauge and water supply will be connected to the top of the riser
casing, and water will be pumped into the observation well as directed.
Measurement will be recorded of flow rates and pressures.

An alternative method of testing will be by bailing. The number of bails


emptied from the well and the time of bailing will be recorded. The water
level (before bailing) will be recorded and the rate of water level recovery
will be measured.

If as a result of improper installation, a well is considered inoperative by the


Owner, Contractor will at its expense, modify the well to make at operative of
replace the well with a satisfactory well.

11.8 . Ground Water Level Measurements

Measurement and recording if the water level in all bore holes, test pits and
observation wells will be carried out each morning prior to circulating fluid or
commencing drilling.

Water level measurements will be made everyday in all complete holes and
wells during the period of this foundation investigation program.

During drilling, any and all water conditions including gain or loss of drilling
fluids and the presence of gas or artesian flows will be recorded by the driller
on the boring logs at the depth encountered. If a sudden loss of drilling fluid
is encountered during the course of drilling operation, the Contractor will
with draw the drill steam and measure the depth of fluid in the boring.

11.9 . Backfilling Holes and Test Pits

The Contractor will backfill all bore holes and test pits as directed by the
Owner. Test pits will be backfield with material excavated from the test pits.
Boring, unless designated as aground water observation well or otherwise
required by the Owner will be filled with cement grout to the top of the hole.

11.10 . CPT and SPT Boring Logs

The Contractor will provide an experienced soils engineer to supervise the


operation of drill rigs, to classify the soils in accordance with ASTM
procedures, and to prepare the necessary logs and related field records.

Contractor will keep and at completion of each boring, will furnish to the
Owner two back line copies of an accurate field log of each boring.

SPT Boring Logs will show boring number, ground elevation refer to bench
mark approved by the Owner, description of the materials in the boring,
depth at which each change in material occurs, depth at which samples
were obtained, the type of samples, standard penetration test resistance,
percentage of recovery water loss, if any, depth or change in depth of
water table, and any other data pertinent to the identification of material
or to the strength or consistency of the materials in undisturbed
formations.

Logs will also include the reasons for stopping a boring for any interval of
time.

CPT drilling logs will shown test number, ground elevation refer to bench
mark approved by the Owner, depth or change in depth of water table,
cone penetration resistance, individual skin friction also sum skin friction
and other data required.

Logs will also include the reasons for non-continues path diagram and
stopping a drilling for any interval time.

11.11 . Plate Bearing Test

The test may be carried out by a steel as beam which transferred the
reaction of hydraulic jack to an earth anchored system as counter weight.
The settlement will be measured by dial gauge.
The minimum capacity of hydraulic jack at least 30 ton or adjusted to
loading test specified by Geotechnical Engineer.

11.12 . Bench Mark

The Contractor will install bench mark as designation by the Owner's


Engineer.
Bench mark will be from reinforced concrete square or circle column 20 cm
minimum diameter.

At the center of column will be provided round bar 20 mm minimum


diameter with cross sign as center line of bench mark.

Bench mark would be strength enough without any damage and moving
during site preparation and earth work.

Top of bench mark will be referred to grade level or designated by the


Engineer and driven to at least 200 cm under the ground level.

11.13 . Soil Investigation Points Control

Finding coordinate and elevation may be performed by water pass or


theodolite subject to be done by the Owner. Coordinate and elevation will
be referred to close existing bench mark.

Site development plan will show contour line internal 0.5 m, ground
elevation, road, open ditch, building and other inside site plant, including
coordinate and elevation of all field exploration performed.

12. An Example of Geo-technical Analysis, Calculation and Recommendation


for pile (unused)

The calculation of bearing capacity of pile depend on the available data. Generally,
there are two bearing capacity of pile shall be considered i.e. :

Point bearing capacity of single pile

The calculation of point bearing capacity of pile on sand base on the equation
published by Meyerof (1976) using N-SPT value as follow:

For undrained saturated clay, the point bearing capacity of single pile can be
determined using the following equation:

with cu is undrained cohesion at the tip of pile.

In case of the tip of pile rest on rock, Goodman (1980) suggested the following
equation to determine the ultimate point bearing capacity of pile:

N = tan2(45+ /2)
qu = unconfined compression strength of rock
= qu(lab)/5
= internal drained angle of friction of rock

The values of qu(lab) and usually could be gotten from the laboratory tests, but
sometimes due to some reasons the laboratory test could not be done, so these
properties are determined by do the assumption through some empirical correlation
or use the suggestion value of geotechnical experts as shown in the following table.

And the ultimate point bearing capacity of pile can be determined using the
following equation:

Skin Resistance of single pile

Generally the skin resistance of pile can be determined using the following
equation:

There are several equations could be used to determine the f value, depend on the
soil types and the available soil properties.

For sand with the available data is N-SPT value, the f value can be determined
using the formula published by Meyerhof (1976) :

Whereas for clay, the f value can be determined using several methods i.e

Ultimate bearing capacity (Qu) and allowable bearing capacity (Qall) of single pile

The ultimate bearing capacity of single pile is the sum of end bearing capacity and
skin resistance of single pile, and the allowable bearing capacity of single pile is
determined by the ultimate bearing capacity of single pile divide by a certain factor

Due to the available data is field data consist of description of soil layer with its
density and N-SPT value, so the calculation of bearing capacity of single pile will be
based on the equations as suggestion by Meyerhof.
For the pile rest on hard soil layer or rock stratum, the point bearing capacity of pile
usually give major contribution compare to skin bearing capacity, and for this
condition the skin resistance of pile is neglected as applied in this project.

Ultimate bearing capacity (Qg(u)) and allowable bearing capacity (Qg(all)) of Pile
Group

For point bearing piles resting on hard soil or rock, most building codes specify that
the ultimate bearing capacity of pile group is the sum of the ultimate bearing
capacity of single pile, which can be expressed with the following formula :

And the allowable bearing capacity of pile group can be determined using the
following equation:

II. DELIVERABLES

Contractor submitted plan list of our deliverables, owned tools and equipments (include
specification) to support execution of project. The attached plan list showing detail data
such as specification and quantity, all equipments are in good condition and available in
our Jakarta office & warehouse. When deems necessary due to full schedule of our drilling
machines, the lack of drilling machines will be fulfilled by means of rental.

Reports deliverables :

1. Field records of tests, draft drilling logs, SPT data, etc will be submitted continuously
2. Weekly work progress report will be submitted to the owner and head office in every Monday
3. The field problems occurred will be reported directly through communication devices to the owner
and Head Office in order to get the solutions as well
4. All draft / rough field reports will be sent to our Head Office for computer processing & drawing
5. Monthly report will be submitted in the first week
6. Soil samples will send to the laboratory in every two weeks
7. Result of Geotechnical Investigation Report will be submitted as Draft Report & Final report after
completion of laboratory testing
