Running Head: LEADERSHIP PHILOSOPHY 2

My leadership philosophy has been developed as a result of 20 years of public and private school

teaching. To begin with, a good leader is a servant and learner to his organization. I see myself as a

constant learner of new ideas and philosophies with the ability to be relevant in a changing and fast pace

society. A sensitive leader is welcoming of diverse ideas and recognizes that collaboration allows input

from a different perspective in achieving a common goal. Research has found that Interactions

constitute an organization’s social fabric, and the lived values and norms of how things are done

within the organization. That social fabric in turn either increases or decreases the capacity of

individuals to collaborate, to create new things, to facilitate information sharing, and to adapt.

There’s a deep connection between these small everyday interactions and an organization’s

overall performance. (Dutton, 2004). Whis this being said, building community and respect

allows indidividuals the freedom to feel important, valued and apprecieated.

Mentoring from experienced colleagues is important to my leadership core principles. A wise

pastor once stated: “That if you are leading a group of individuals and no one is following you, then

you’re only taking a walk.” As a leader I believe that vision, structure and accountability are core

elements in leading a successful organization. My desire has always been to lead in an effective manner

that everyone understands the goal and purpose of our objective. Compassion for others allows me the

ability to look at the potential in people and recognize that we are not perfect people. It is only fair to

recognize that Individuals including myself make mistakes, however, I don’t let it define who I am. In

addition, my leadership exemplifies high expectations for my group which often refutes laziness,

thoughtless obstructive and opaque behavior.

Lastly, I strongly believe that my Philosophy of Leadership goals are built upon creating an

environment that develops people to their full potential, while guiding everyone towards a common goal.
