PRELUDE
Lanelle Alford
34Then Peter began to speak to them: "I truly understand that God shows no partiality,
35but in every nation anyone who fears him and does what is right is acceptable to him.
36You know the message he sent to the people of Israel, preaching peace by Jesus
people but to us who were chosen by God as witnesses, and who ate and drank with
him after he rose from the dead. 42He commanded us to preach to the people and to
testify that he is the one ordained by God as judge of the living and the dead. 43All the
prophets testify about him that everyone who believes in him receives forgiveness of
sins through his name."

GREETINGS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS
HYMN:
“Thine Is The Glory” (vs 1)
Thine is the glory, risen, conqu’ring Son;
Endless is the vict’ry thou o’er death hast won!
Angels in bright raiment rolled the stone away,
Kept the folded grave clothes where thy body lay.
Thine is the glory, risen, conqu’ring Son;
Endless is the vict’ry thou o’er death hast won!
Early on the first day of the week, while it was still dark, Mary Magdalene came to the
tomb and saw that the stone had been removed from the tomb. 2So she ran and went
to Simon Peter and the other disciple, the one whom Jesus loved, and said to them,
"They have taken the Lord out of the tomb, and we do not know where they have laid
him." 3Then Peter and the other disciple set out and went toward the tomb. 4The two
were running together, but the other disciple outran Peter and reached the tomb first.
5He bent down to look in and saw the linen wrappings lying there, but he did not go in.
6Then Simon Peter came, following him, and went into the tomb. He saw the linen
wrappings lying there, 7and the cloth that had been on Jesus' head, not lying with the
linen wrappings but rolled up in a place by itself. 8Then the other disciple, who reached
the tomb first, also went in, and he saw and believed; 9for as yet they did not
understand the scripture, that he must rise from the dead. 10Then the disciples
returned to their homes. 11But Mary stood weeping outside the tomb. As she
wept, she bent over to look into the tomb; 12and she saw two angels in white, sitting
where the body of Jesus had been lying, one at the head and the other at the feet.
13They said to her, "Woman, why are you weeping?" She said to them, "They have
taken away my Lord, and I do not know where they have laid him." 14When she had said
this, she turned around and saw Jesus standing there, but she did not know that it was
Jesus. 15Jesus said to her, "Woman, why are you weeping? Whom are you looking
for?" Supposing him to be the gardener, she said to him, "Sir, if you have carried him
away, tell me where you have laid him, and I will take him away." 16Jesus said to her,
"Mary!" She turned and said to him in Hebrew, "Rabbouni!" (which means Teacher).
17Jesus said to her, "Do not hold on to me, because I have not yet ascended to the
Father. But go to my brothers and say to them, 'I am ascending to my Father and your
Father, to my God and your God.'" 18Mary Magdalene went and announced to the
disciples, "I have seen the Lord"; and she told them that he had said these things to her.
SHARING THE GOOD NEWS
Pastor: You are holy, O God of majesty, and blessed is Jesus Christ, your
Son, our Lord, whom you sent to save us. He came with healing in his touch, and was
wounded for our sins. He came with mercy in his voice, and was mocked as one
despised. He came with peace in his heart, and met with violence and death. By your
power he broke free from the prison of the tomb, and at his command the gates of hell
were opened. The one who was dead now lives. The one who humbled himself is
raised to rule over all creation, the Lamb upon the throne. The one ascended on high
is with us always, as he promised. We give you thanks that the Lord Jesus, on the night
before he died, took bread, and after giving thanks , he broke it, and gave it to his
disciples, saying: Take, eat. This is my body, given for you. Do this in remembrance
of me. In the same way he took the cup, saying: This cup is the new covenant sealed
in my blood, shed for you for the forgiveness of sins.
Whenever you drink it, do this in remembrance of me. Remembering all your mighty and
merciful acts, we take this bread and this cup from the gifts you have given us, and
celebrate with joy the redemption won for us in Jesus Christ. Accept this our sacrifice
of praise and thanksgiving as a living and holy offering of ourselves, that our lives may
proclaim the One crucified and risen. Great is the mystery of faith:
People: Christ has come. Christ has risen. Christ will come again.
Pastor: Gracious God, pour out your Holy Spirit upon us and upon these your gifts of
bread and cup, that the bread we break and the cup we bless may be the communion of
the body and blood of Christ. By your Spirit make us one with Christ that we may be
one with all who share this feast, united in ministry in every place.
People: Amen.
THE LORD’S PRAYER
Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be
done, on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins
as we forgive those who sin against us. Save us from the time of trial and
deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours, now
and forever. Amen.
Pastor: As this bread is Christ’s body for us, send us out to be the body of Christ in
the world.
COMMUNION OF THE PEOPLE
(Please eat and drink the elements as you receive them)
Lamb of God, you take away the sin of the world: Refrain
you break the chains of hatred and fear: Refrain
you are the way of justice and peace: Refrain
you are the way of mercy and love: Refrain
Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world, grant us peace, grant us peace,
grant us peace
(As the people commune, the hymn printed on the next page may be sung)
Pastor: The grace of our risen Lord Jesus Christ and the gifts of his bread and cup
strengthen, preserve, keep and unite us both now and forevermore.
People: Amen
POST-COMMUNION PRAYER
Pastor: Lord Jesus, in a wonderful sacrament you have left us a memorial of your
suffering and death. May this sacrament of your body and blood so work in us that the
fruits of your redemption will show forth in the way we live, for you live and reign with
the Father and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.
People/ Amen
EASTER BENEDICTION
Pastor: God the Father who raised Christ from the dead open to you the gate of
everlasting life. God the Son who burst from the grave, give you joy as you celebrate
his resurrection. God the Holy Spirit who brought you to birth in baptism, fill you with

HYMN:
“Thine Is The Glory” (vs 2)
Lo, Jesus meets thee, risen from the tomb!
Lovingly he greets thee, scatters fear and gloom;
Let his Church with gladness hymns of triumph sing,
For the Lord now liveth; death hath lost its sting!
Thine is the glory, risen conqu’ring Son;
Endless is the vict’ry thou o’er death hast won!
SECOND READING
So if you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is,
seated at the right hand of God. 2Set your minds on things that are above, not on
things that are on earth, 3for you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.
4When Christ who is your life is revealed, then you also will be revealed with him in
glory.
HYMN:
“Thine Is The Glory” (vs 3)
No more we doubt thee, glorious Prince of life;
Life is nought without thee; Aid us in our strife;
Make us more than conqu’rors, through thy deathless love;
Bring us safe through Jordan to thy home above.
Thine is the glory, Risen, conqu-ring Son;
Endless is the vict’ry thou o’er death hast won!
