Project 1:

Title : Banking Management System


Client : Nedbank
Role : ETL Developer
Environment : Informatica Power Center, Oracle, Windows 2000
Duration : 1 year 2 months

Description :

Banking Management System was designed to move the business transactional


data to data warehouse. Due to day to day business transactional processing, thousands
of applications are filled and thousands of checks transactions are happening. This data
is moved to the database. This processing is Transactional Processing. It helps to
predict geographical areas of high demand and to identify the best branch targeting
customers, thus helping the client to make marketing forecast.

Responsibilities :

• Mainly involved in Data Extraction, Transformation and Loading (ETL


process) from source to target systems using Informatica.
• Worked extensively with Designer tools like Source Analyzer, Warehouse
Designer, Transformation Developer, Mapping and Mapplet Designer.
• Created data mappings to extract data from different source files, transform
the data using Filter, Expression, Joiner Transformations etc. and then loaded
into data warehouse.
• Developed various mapplets that were then included into the mappings.
• Created sessions and workflows to extract and load data in to target.
• Implemented Slowly Changing dimension type2 methodology for accessing
the full history of accounts and transaction information.
• Used Workflow Manager and Workflow Monitor to read data from sources, and
write data to target database.
• Performed unit testing to improve the performance by applying business logic.

Description :
Sales Management System was designed to analyze the sales of
bio-ceramic products to various regions by the distributors and retailers. It helps to
analyze the sales revenue to predict geographical areas of high demand and to identify
the best retailer targeting customers, thus helping the client to make better decisions. It
also helps to reveal the hidden patterns and trends in the data which helps to make
marketing forecast.

Responsibilities :
• Extensively involved in Data Extraction, Transformation and Loading (ETL
process) from Source to target systems using Informatica.
• Performed data cleansing using Informatica.
• Worked extensively with Designer tools like Source Analyzer, Warehouse
Designer, Transformation Developer, Mapping and Mapplet Designer.
