Reasons of establishment of MPAG

Alor Gajah Municipal Council (MPAG) is one of the local authority that was upgraded on 1st
May 2003 from Alor Gajah District Council. Alor Gajah Municipal Council provides municipal
services, developed infrastructure and social facilities for residents in Alor Gajah. There are several
reasons of establishment of Alor Gajah Municipal Council.

The first reason is to empower the governance to enhance organisational excellence. The way
of governance in an organisation is very crucial in order to produce credibility and qualities of
management. Division duty in different department in organisation has increased the involvement in
their job, attitudes, quality of works and commitment in order to accomplish their job to residents in
Alor Gajah.

The second reason is to strengthen the capacity and capability of the organisation to enhance
the efficiency and effectiveness of the management. High engagement equal to high performance. In
order to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness, MPAG create their own official portal in order to
make sure that residents in Alor Gajah can get any information that related. Besides that, leadership
skills and knowledge were significantly improved since they attended course and programmes in
order to be better in management to serve residents. The official portal of MPAG goal is to upgrade
the service with current information, residents or visitors satisfaction and so on.

Next is to stabilise the municipal management to enhance the community’s quality of life. A
state or developed countries is not just measured with the infrastructure’s development but aspects of
hygiene, beauty and welfare of the residents must leading in order to be seen as an attractive city. One
of the municipal council duties is to repair and upgrading of infrastructure and services in general for
example upgrade road, upgrade area that exposed to flood, ensure the cleanliness and attractiveness of
city, design landscape and many more that relate to upgrade or construct the city.

Last reason is to stabilise the strategic collaboration to improve service quality.


Collaboration in manufacturing and service industries can enhance employee satisfaction, improve
quality of product and services, increase customer satisfaction and increase profit. Quality
emphasizes customer focus, teamwork, continues quality improvement and systematic process
management. There are various strategies for applying management in an organisation to improve
products and services quality. For example strategic used is standards-based approach (ISO 9000
approach), Total Quality Management (TQM), Strategic Quality Management (SQM), and Strategic
Collaborative Quality Management (SCQM).
