Act 3: “This Is Me: Be What You Wanna Be”

Scene/s: Rendition of a mash-up of songs, mini- musical play


Dialogue Theme: Musical play on being an “Inquirer/ Thinker”
Cast: RJ, Ringmaster, Announcer, solo and group singers,
Lights: Blackout, then spotlight on the Announcer standing at the front-left side of the stage.
Music: Entrance background fills in
Announcer: If what you are is what’s in you, then you’ll stay strong and that’s who you will be. Children of all
ages, boys and girls, the next entertainment that you’ll see will make you think about the best that you
can be! Let’s make some noise for our circus’ songbirds and impersonators on the center stage!
Music: Background music fills in.
Lights. Fantasy effect, then spotlight on the Ringmaster as soon as the music starts.
Production: “This Is Me: Be What You Wanna Be”
Opening Production: “This Is Me”
Segment Cast: (Tableau position or stand still like a statue on different positions according to the job-
character represented)

Ringmaster: (Standing inside a picture frame like a portrait, sings the first part of “This Is Me”, then moves out
of the frame, towards the center stage and faces RJ while singing.)
You’re not a stranger to the dark But you won’t let them break you down to dust
"Hide away," they say You know that there’s a place for us
"'Cause we don't want your broken parts" For we are glorious
You've learned to be ashamed of all your scars
"Run away," they say
"No one'll love you as you are"

RJ: (Feels astounded while listening to the ringmaster and looking at each statue-character, and moves
closer wherever the ringmaster moves.)

Music: Cut after the first part of “This Is Me”


Ringmaster: (To RJ) Be brave, be strong. I know you could reach the top. Make sure that you won’t stop to
be the one that you want to be. (Moves back to the frame)
RJ: (Attempts to follow the ringmaster but he is blocked by the statue-characters which start to sing)

Part 2 Production:
Musical-play Production: “This Is Me” and a mash–up of songs about different strong
characteristics.
(After the production, all cast move back to tableau position. RJ follows them and gets startled
when they become statues. Moves back to the front)
RJ: This is me. It's all I know how to be. I won't change for you, This me is brand new. You can call me
names, but one day I'm gonna have fame. You can beat me down, but still I will not frown. This is who I
am, being me, being all that I can be.
Part 3 Production:
Music: Fill in outro part of “This Is Me”
All: Oh – oh – oh – oh - (4x) This is me!
RJ: When the sharpest words wanna cut me down
I’m gonna send a flood, gonna drown them out
I am brave, I am bruised
I am who I’m meant to be, this is me.
All: Look out ‘cause here I come
And I’m marching on to the beat I drum
I’m not scared to be seen
I make no apologies, this is me.
Oh – oh – oh – oh (4x)
This is me!
(All freeze, then exit as the lights blackout)

Act 6: “From Now On, You Are What You Dream”
Scene/s: solo and choral singing of mash-up songs, mini-musical play
Dialogue Theme: musical play on being Reflective
Cast: RJ, Ringmaster Announcer, soloists and choir singers, dancers

Lights: Blackout, then gradually gets bright as soon as the production music fades in.
Music: Fill in opening production music.

Production: Part 1: Opening Dance of Chorus 2 of “From Now On”


(Segment cast in different profession or aimed dream costumes)
(All cast freeze in a tableau position after the performance, then exit)
Lights: Blackout, then spotlight on the Announcer as it appears on center stage.
Music: Fill in entrance of Announcer background music.
Announcer: All the breaks you need in life wait within your dream. Dream is the workshop of your
mind, capable of turning mind energy into accomplishment and wealth. And now, to give us a much
clearer perspective on how being reflective on ourselves is necessary as we hold on to become what
we dream of. With much pleasure, we bring you back on stage our circus’ songbirds. Let’s give them a
round of applause!

Production: Part 2: Segment Theme Song: “Being Reflective as You Hold On To Your Dream”
Lights: Spotlight fades out as the Announcer takes exit, then blackout. Gradually gets brighter as soon as the
singers are on stage.
Music: Live accompaniment of the original music score of the segment theme song.
(All singers address their song to RJ who is seated downstage.)

Singer 1: Verse1: Any day above ground is a good day.


Before you complain about anything,
Singer 2: be thankful for your life
and the things that are still going well.
Singer 3: Verse 2: Take time daily to reflect on how much you have.
It may not be all that you want
Singer 4: but remember someone somewhere
is dreaming to have what you have.
All 4 Singers: Refrain: Sometimes it seems in the end,
what we’ve got going for is imagination.
And in darkness, everything around us becomes symbolic,
Perhaps this is what dreaming is for.
Singer 5: Verse 3: The purpose of life is to become acquainted
with the deepest recesses of our own mind
Singer 6: Reflecting upon what we experience.
Give us the wisdom that we discern
Repeat Refrain (by all singers)
Singers 1 & 2: Bridge: Lacking knowledge of the world,
Singers 3 & 4: without reflecting on our essence,
Singers 5 & 6: we can never know the truth,
All Singers: we can never ever know the truth
of our own existence.
Repeat Refrain, to Coda
All Singers: Coda: In darkness, everything around us becomes symbolic,
Perhaps this is what dreaming is for…..
(All move closer together towards the rear back stage and freeze in different positions.)
Production: Ending Part: Segment finale song: “From Now On”
Lights: Dim, then spotlight on the Ringmaster that stands on a platform with wheels and moves from right side
closer to where RJ is seated.
Music: Fill in “From Now On” starting Verse 2-“For years and years……”
Ringmaster: For years and years But when I stop
I chased their cheers And see you here
The crazy speed of always needing more I remember who all this was for
(Moves down at instrumental part and gets closer to and takes RJ up and both go up the stage.).
Ringmaster: (Talks to RJ) Becoming all that we can be is a personal standard in reaching for success the
highest
that is in us. Success is the product of wisdom and hard work: We can gain wisdom by reflection, which
is noblest; by imitation, which is easiest; and third by experience, which is the bitterest.
All these I can see in you that make you deserving to be bestowed upon the most coveted
vestment of being a Ringmaster. (Waves the cane in a fancy manner)
In the fulfillment of your dream, I bestow this Ringmaster’s cane on you. (Moves the cane upward
to
the right, left, front upward, then handover it to RJ)
Lights: Fireworks and fancy dancing lights.
Music: Fill in magical and fanfare music.
RJ: (So elated and amazed, hugs the Ringmaster and runs around the stage while waving the cane upward,
then back to the front-center stage with the Ringmaster and sing together.)
(Speaks to the Ringmaster and audience) From now on, I will not be blinded by the lights. From now on,
I will let this promise and the anthem in my heart start and make it bright. From now on, I am what I
dream!
(Segment cast dance and sing together with RJ and the Ringmaster.)
Ending A: Dancers’ and Singers’ Entrance (Sing and dance together with RJ and
Ringmaster)
All Segment Cast: And we will come back home And we will come back home
And we will come back home And we will come back home
Home, again! Home, again!

Ending B: With RJ and Ringmaster
