Frederick D. Royer
YORK - Frederick De-
mont Royer, 89, died Sat-
urday, March 31, 2018 at
UPMC Pinnacle Memo-
rial Hospital. Born Sep-
tember 5, 1928 in Cessna,
PA, he was the son of the
late Carl Frederick and
Stella (Mowry) Royer.
Fred was a material
handler in the fabri-
cation department at
Dentsply International, Inc. for 13 years until he
went on disability in January 1975.
He was a graduate of Hellam High School and
Gallaudet College where he was a life member
of its Alumni Association. Fred was a member
of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in York. He was a
life member of the York Lutheran Auxiliary and
a member of The Lutheran Brotherhood. He
was a life member of the York County History
Center (formerly the Historical Society of York
County) and member of the Bedford County
Pioneer Historical Society. He was also a life
member of the Blair County Chapter Sons of
the American Revolution. Throughout his adult
life, Fred’s hobby was to collect genealogical data.
Much of his research was used in the compiling
of the history “The Beegle Family in Bedford
County”, published in 1974.
He is survived by two nephews, Michael and
wife, Doris Royer and his family of New Freedom
and Dennis and wife, Beth Royer of Landisburg,
PA; and his sister-in-law, Maria Royer of York.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Thomas
O. Royer.
Funeral services will be held Friday, April 6, 2018
at 1:30 p.m. at the Etzweiler Funeral Homes and
Cremation Service, 1111 E. Market Street, York,
with the Rev. Stanley Reep, his pastor, officiating.
Burial will be in Mount Rose Cemetery. A viewing
will be held Friday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at the
funeral home.

Helen L. Adams
YORK - Helen Louise
Adams, 97, died March
26, 2018 at The Haven
at Springwood. She was
the wife of the late Philip
R. Adams, Jr.
Born November 14,
1920 in Washington,
D.C., she was the daugh-
ter of the late Earl N. and
Helen K. (Daugherty)
Bergerstock.
Mrs. Adams taught first grade at Lincoln Ele-
mentary School. She was also a piano teacher for
many years in York County.
She was a 1937 graduate of William Penn Se-
nior High School. She attended Sherwood Mu-
sic School in Chicago and graduated from West
Chester State Teachers College. Helen was a long
time member of First Presbyterian Church of York
where she was involved in the Chancel and Bell
Choir, a Deacon, and a Sunday school teacher.
She was also a member of AARP and YCPASR.
Helen is survived by her children, Harold P.
Adams and his wife, Brenda of York, Catherine
L. Nace and her husband, Dennis of York, and
John C. Adams, Sr. and his wife, Coni of Dover;
nine grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother; and two
grandsons.
Funeral services will be held Friday, April 6,
2018 at 11 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church of
York, 225 E. Market Street, York, with her pastor,
the Rev. Allison J. Beaulieu, officiating. Burial will
be in Prospect Hill Cemetery. A viewing will be
held Friday from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at the church.

Marian Freeman
STEWARTSTOWN -
Marian Smith Freeman,
formerly of Stewarts-
town, died on April 1,
2018. She was the wife
of Stephen R. Freeman
to whom she married on
June 16, 1968, they were
together for 50 years.
Mrs. Freeman was
born in Baltimore, MD
and was the daughter of
the late Earl Smith and Christine Serio.
She is survived by her husband, Stephen; and
by two sons, Stephen Freeman and wife, Melissa
of Hampstead, MD, and Kevin Freeman and wife,
Rachel of Breckenridge, CO.
Mrs. Freeman retired as an Early Childhood
Teacher after 43 years of service. She taught kin-
dergarten for four years at Baltimore City Schools,
then worked at Trinity Lutheran for seven years,
and later taught and was the Director at Seyco
Pre-School for 32 years.
She was a member of Stewartstown United
Methodist Church for 25 years, where she was
involved with Children’s Christian Ministries. She
was a board member of the Mason Dixon Library,
and a member of the Mason Dixon Business and
Professional Women’s Association.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on
Saturday, April 7 at 11 a.m., at the Stewartstown
United Methodist Church, 26 S. Main St., Stew-
artstown. There will be a visitation one hour prior
to the service.

Robert “Bob” J. Heim
HAMPSTEAD, MD - Robert “Bob” Joseph Heim,
Sr., 83, passed suddenly Saturday, March 31, 2018
at the Carroll Hospital Center in Westminster, MD.
Born August 28, 1934 in Falls Church, VA he was
the son of the late Emil Francis and Catherine
Marie Cremen Heim, Sr. He was the husband of
Fay Calhoun Butler-Heim.
Bob was a retired commercial construction field
superintendent. He was a member of the Train
Collectors Association and St. Bartholomew’s
Catholic Church in Manchester, MD
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are children,
Robert Joseph Heim, Jr., Veronica Marie O’Con-
nor, Roseanne Kathleen Heist and Michael James
Heim; stepdaughters, Sheri Cappelletti and Laura
E. Butler; siblings, William Duston Heim and
Claudia Catherine Stewart. He is also survived by
numerous grandchildren; and great-grandchil-
dren. He was predeceased by a son, John Francis
Heim; and siblings, Arden, Carter and Frank.
A Requiem Mass will be held at St. Barthol-
omew’s Catholic Church, 2930 Hanover Pike,
Manchester, MD on Saturday, April 7 at 10:30
a.m. The family will receive friends at the church
from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday. Interment will
follow in Druid Ridge Cemetery, Pikesville, MD.

Anna M. Deimler
YORK HAVEN - Anna M. Deimler, 85, formerly
of Harrisburg, passed away peacefully surrounded
by her family, Saturday, March 31, 2018, at her
home.
Born in Harrisburg on December 15, 1932, she
was the daughter of the late Roy E. and Loma
Moonshine Deimler.
Anna retired as an accounting technician for
the Mechanicsburg Naval Supply Depot, she also
worked for the former Olmsted Air Force Base,
Federal Building Selective Service, and Fort In-
diantown Gap. She was a 1950 graduate of the
former John Harris High School, Harrisburg.
She was a member of Cassel’s Christian and Mis-
sionary Alliance Church, Manchester, and a for-
mer member of Calvary Independent Church,
Harrisburg. Anna was an avid reader, and also
enjoyed word searches and watching television,
but most of all doting on her grandchildren and
great-grandchildren.
Anna is survived by her daughter, Anna Lee
Marshall, wife of Dennis of New Cumberland;
sister, Jean Marie Williams, wife of Richard; grand-
daughter, Brenda Lee Anderson, wife of Todd;
great-grandchildren, Destiny Lee Anderson, Ash-
lee Jade Anderson and Garrett Michael Anderson;
and great-great granddaughter, McKenzie Rose
Welsh; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Anna was preceded
in death by a daughter, Vicky Lee Cayton; and a
sister, Carolyn Longland.
A graveside service will be held Thursday, April
5, 2018 at 2 p.m. in the Hummelstown Cemetery,
South John Street, Hummelstown, with The Rev.
C. Marvin Hoffman officiating.

Charlotte Gohn
YORK - Charlotte R. (Anderson) Swemley Gohn,
96, passed away Monday, April 2, 2018, at Autumn
House West, York. She was the wife of the late
Emory S. Swemley and the late Charles Gohn.
Mrs. Gohn was born in Dover, January 28, 1922,
daughter of the late George and Mary Anderson.
Charlotte was employed as an inspector for
Sylvania, retiring after 34 years of service.
Survivors include a son, George E. Swemley of
York; three grandchildren, Jeff Swemley and his
wife, Kathy, Scott Swemley, and Lori Lehman and
her husband, Scott; four great-grandchildren,
Jennifer Lindt, Greg Lehman and his wife, Sarah,
Justin Lehman and his wife, Sheena, and Abby
Lehman; five great-great-grandchildren, Sierra
and Aiden Campbell, Eliza, Layla, and Kaylee
Lehman; and two siblings, Dorothy Beck of York,
and Elwood Anderson of Dover; and numerous
nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death
by her granddaughter in-law, Nickie Swemley;
and three siblings, Margaret Marsh, Raymond
Anderson, and Helen Stambaugh.
Funeral service will be held 11 a.m., Saturday,
April 7, 2018, at the LeRoy R. Leber Funeral Home,
Inc., 2290 School St., York (Shiloh). There will be
a viewing, one hour prior from 10-11 a.m., at the
funeral home. Final resting place will be Prospect
Hill Cemetery, York.
