FINAL REPORT

Goal: To pass the WCE II on or before the seventh exam on May 2018.

We live in a world that is full of distractions and challenges in every corner. In fact,
almost all of existing environmental and personal factors are a variable of academic
performance and being in the right mind set is important in order to study smarter.

Having an average of less than 70% for the last four WCE II - 58.78% for the first
exam, 61.91% for the second, 64.65% and 67% for the third and fourth exam
respectively is really upsetting and bothersome on my part since pressure is everywhere.
Also, I did not achieve my goal of passing the said exam on March 2018 so I decided to
change my target on or before the seventh WCE II that will be held on May 2018. This
target for me is the most realistic one after I assessed my situation.

In my first three outputs, I addressed some of the most common study problems that
I particularly experienced and discussed some solutions for dealing with it. In this paper, I
will assess myself if those solutions were applicable and try to find out what’s the most
effective strategy to pass the WCE II.

First on my list is the struggle with time management. It is true that time will continue
to march on at a steady pace and we can't control that. What we can do is to arrange and
manage our use of it every day. Take the time to outline clear expectations for yourself
and others.
In my previous papers, some of the solutions I enumerated are being more
organized and disciplined with my routine, getting up earlier, planning out the day, and
making maximum productive use of the time I allocate to each of my review subjects.
However, I was unable to fulfill this strategies since I observed that the contrary is what
really happened. Even though I know how to prioritize things correctly and define what is
the most important thing I am supposed to do, it is still hard for me to be consistent.

So I followed what Ms. Janice C. Gubatan suggested. She said that it is good to start
well in advance so that there will be less panic and stress before exam. Starting gently
and early will keep someone in a good revision pace.

Another problem on my list are the distractions. Even though there are times where I
simply avoid studying, I came to realize that doing something needs to be in focused so
that everything will be done properly. If someone is distracted, something important will
be set aside instead and will not finish it on time.

In combating this problem, I break the large tasks down into smaller, more
manageable tasks. I also eliminated the things I know to be my weaknesses from my
study place. For now, I already have the right mind set what I really need to do is to
concentrate, find a space that is quiet, comfortable and distraction-free. Whenever I
choose to study, I put up motivating quotes, pictures, or anything else that makes me feel
good.

By applying those solutions stated above, I am able to achieve the following results
on my previous WCE II:

NOVEMBER DECEMBER JANUARY MARCH

SUBJECTS

Auditing 72.86 74.29 67.14 68.75

Theory
Auditing 55 58 62.50 52

Problem

Auditing: 63.93 66.13 64.82 60.38

RFBT 63 61 67 67

Taxation 42.35 48.75 52.86 62.50

MAS 60 74.29 67.14 77.14

AFAR 64.29 64.29 71.43 65.71

Average: 58.71 63.49 64.65 66.55

What I do now is to experiment with some different learning styles that will allow me

to enjoy what I am doing, retain information better, and focus more easily. I will focus and

allocate more time on the subjects which in my perspective is hard and study it further so

that I will be able to gain more knowledge compared to what I’ve used to do before.

At this time, I already feel the academic pressure that comes from peer and parental

expectations and from fear of failure and disgrace. Honestly, I came to that moment that I

think this course is not for me, that I will not going to make it. However, there are still

people who always reminded me that I can and I will be able to finish my course on time.

My cause of studying is a powerful source of my motivation but it’s still abstract in

nature. I need to make it concrete in the form of a dream. I try to imagine how the world

will be in the future and how people will live and work.
Having a dream is important because it’s difficult to be motivated if you don’t have

anything to shoot for. Just think about people who play basketball. Will they be motivated

to play if there is no basket to aim at? I don’t think so. They need a goal. Therefore,

I need a goal. That’s what my dream of becoming a CPA is for.

But I think just having a dream is insufficient. That dream must be big enough to

inspire you. It must be realistic but challenging. It must stretch your ability beyond your

comfort zone.
