Dear John,

Today is the day! For the first time in history official hearings begin in an investigation into Shell, BHP
Billiton, BP, Chevron, ConocoPhillips, ENI, ExxonMobil, Glencore, OMV, Repsol, Sasol, Suncor, Total,
RWE and another 33 companies for human rights violations resulting from climate change.

That’s right! On Tuesday, in Manila, the Commission on Human Rights of the Philippines will hold the first
in a series of hearings in its investigation into the responsibility of the Carbon Majors for Human Rights
Violations or Threats of Violations Resulting from the Impacts of Climate Change begins..

This is for REAL! It is anticipated that the Commission will conclude its investigation by the end of THIS
year and issue its recommendations in early 2019. The outcome has the potential to shift global
understanding of corporate responsibility for climate change and send a strong signal that companies must
take action to prevent further harm resulting from the climate crisis.

This investigation is part of the growing global movement of people using the law to demand their rights to a
stable climate and healthy environment are protected. The movement is strong and diverse, ranging from one
thousand senior women in Switzerland; youth in the US, Norway, New Zealand, Portugal and Colombia; a
citizens group in the Netherlands; to individuals from Peru and Pakistan. Fossil fuel companies are facing an
increasing number of climate litigation cases around the world. Thousands of people are supporting these
lawsuits.

Join the movement to support the people and communities around the world who are taking legal action to
seek climate justice. Demand that governments and companies urgently take action to protect people's rights
to a stable climate and healthy environment!

Add your name.

Thank you,
Desiree Llanos Dee
Climate Justice Campaigner
PS: This is just the beginning! More hearings are scheduled in the Philippines, the US and Europe in the
coming months. Raise your voice!
