1. Final state
Basis: Social Education Center in Motycz Leśny near Lublin is situated 15 km from the center of Lublin. It has a good transport
connection (railway and private buses). The center is situated on a 1,55 ha plot (0,8 ha is forest). The estate is all the property of the
Happy Childhood Foundation. In 2001 we finished building a house counting 2500 m2 usable space. The house is able to
accommodate and feed 50 people, it has conference room and seminar rooms. In the center there is a small goat breeding. We also
started works aiming at opening a botanic didactic path, we also started design works concerning building a medieval village. Besides,
there are also a football pitch, workshop equipped with bicycles, and almost finished design of blazing bicycle tracks. The book value
of the estate is over 1,6 mln zł.
Essential program, staff: Over the last few years the Foundation has devised its own educational program called the Youth Academy.
The program is realized in 16 centers of daily support for children and youth in the Lublin region and 2 in Ukraine. These centers are
run by different legal subjects. Ca. 1000 children and youngsters benefit from the program, these are mostly people who need help in
creating equal social chances. The aim of the program is education to:
- activity in societies in which one lives – family, school, parish, local community, national and international community,
- engagement for each community must follow from the sense of spiritual values, common good values, interpersonal solidarity,
democratic values,
- engagement must be supported by personal skills and practical skills necessary for social activity.
The Academy is divided into 5 courses: initial, basic, based on gimnazjum (postprimary school), high school and academic. Children
and youth aged 7-25 participate in the program. The core of the program of the Academy is the so-called Way of Development. In
each academic year, every student of the Youth Academy should pass next level of the Way of Development. Passing to next level is
hinged on participation in the realization of small projects for the benefit of one of the communities. The projects are suited for the age
and possibilities of the youth and children.
Beginning with the high school course, the youth takes part in the projects with other partners, often in international projects.
A special question in the Academy is preparation of the instructors. First instructing degrees one can gain already in gimnazjum. The
highest degrees (staff degrees) one can win after a few-year experience, most quickly at the university age.
The Youth Academy program has a very-well devised strategy of educational goals, aids and materials of the program realization,
system of programs for staff education, programs of building the so-called educational context, that is, the significance of the
Academy in local environment. The program was described in several publications, in this year we are planning to publish another
one.
The Youth Academy program is recognized and appreciated by professors of pedagogy from Warsaw University, Catholic University
of Lublin and Pedagogical Academy from Cracow.

2. Planned actions with quantity values.

1. Further devising of workshop programs teaching activity in local environment consistent with the Youth Academy program.
There will be further training proposals prepared and devised – these will be workshops teaching activity in local environment. A
group of 5 with cooperation of The Education Department of the Municipal Office in Lublin and didactic employees of the Catholic
University of Lublin will devise 4 new workshop proposals. These will be ready lesson plans so that each teacher or an interested
person could use a ready-made material.
The proposal will be addressed to all schools of the Lublin region.
2. Publication of training materials and equipping te Center with didactic aids and training equipment.
The project needs full activation of the Social Education Center. This stage will be run on in two stages: on the one hand, new training
materials will be devised and published, on the other hand, we will equip seminar rooms and bedrooms. Within the first stage we will
publish two books and several booklets containing various propositions of workshops with ready-made lesson plans. Within equipping
the rooms we will purchase tables (10) and chairs (50) for the seminar and conference rooms and blackboards for the workshop rooms
(10). Equipping will also mean buying multimedial projector (1), digital camera (1) and computers (3) with software. For the
bedrooms we will buy wardrobes (9).
3. Carrying out an informational campaign, especially in the country and little towns in order to single out youth groups.
Four times a year we will carry out an informational campaign aiming at seeking youth groups. In local media we will publish and
broadcast information concerning the project. Within informational campaign we will also organize two conferences for teachers from
the Lublin region.
4. Running training programs during the year.
Workshops on preparation and carrying out projects of international youth exchange (20 projects). These programs are financed by
several sources: Plish-German Youth Cooperation, Youth Program (European Union), The Bug Euroregion. Our Foundation is since
1994 The Central Unit of Polish-German Youth Cooperation and receives funds for programs of international youth exchange.
Workshops concerning teaching actions with local subjects (25 one-day workshops),
Workshops of various education eg: how to organize a disco, bicycle trip, establish an association, how to seek money for the projects
(30 two-day workshops)
Workshops for scholchildren: on local government, school government etc. (20 workshops)
