7.1.5.1 Last 100 Alarms History

7.2 Alarms and Shutdowns

─────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
GENERON HPMB Series Membrane Nitrogen System
Operating and Maintenance Manual
─────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────

When in the Auto or Manual mode, alarms can be present. Some of these alarms can lead
to a system shutdown if not corrected within the set time period. Refer to Section 8.2 and
8.3 for Maintenance and Trouble-shooting. The Alarm lamp will illuminate to indicate these
conditions and the OIT will display them.

Any Shutdown alarm will have to be corrected and the Manual/Stop/Auto switch place in the
Stop position before the system can be restarted.

7.2.1 “No Flow Detected For Run SHUTDOWN”

A system run has been requested and no flow has been detected. This is a latching
shutdown; the system Manual/Stop/Auto switch must be placed in Stop before the
system can be restarted.

7.2.3 “WARNING - Level Switch 10-1 Failure - Level Switch 11-1 Failure“

A level switch failure has occurred, this is just alarm.

7.2.4 Heater Safety Contactor Trip.

A heater controller problem has been detected and the heater has shutdown.

7.2.5 Warning Filter DP is high

A high DP has been detected across the filter, if after 30 minutes this is not
corrected, the system will shutdown.

7.2.6 WARNING - Air To Modules Temp High > (60C)(140F)

Heated air to modules is above 60C, this is just a warning alarm

7.2.7 Air to Modules Temp High > (65C)(149F) SHUTDOWN

Heated air to the modules is above 65C and the system has shutdown. When the
temperature falls below 55C place the system Manual/Stop/Auto switch in Stop
before the system can be restarted

7.2.8 “High O2 Content Alarm, System to vent” or “Low O2 Content, System to Vent”

The O2 concentration has gone above the high alarm point and system goes vent
offspec

7.2.9 “Compressor Failure 1”, or “Compressor Failure 2” (if applicable)

A compressor Start has been requested with no compressor running indication from
the compressor

7.2.10 Heater not heating

After 60 minutes the air to the modules is not above 30C

7.2.11 System Venting to Long Shutdown

─────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
GENERON HPMB Series Membrane Nitrogen System
Operating and Maintenance Manual
─────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────

The system has been venting longer the allotted time set on the setup screen and
has shutdown the generator

7.2.12 Heater Element Over temperature > (200C) (392F)

The temperature of the heater elements has risen above 200C and has tripped the
heater.

7.2.13 RTD 14-3 Failure SHUTDOWN

The heater air temperature RTD has failed and shutdown the system. This is a
latching shutdown; the system Manual/Stop/Auto switch must be placed in Stop
before the system can be restarted

7.2.14 RTD 19-1 Failure SHUTDOWN

Heated Air to Modules RTD has failed and shutdown the system. This is a latching
shutdown; the system Manual/Stop/Auto switch must be placed in Stop before the
system can be restarted

7.2.15 RTD 14-1 Failure SHUTDOWN

Air into the system RTD has failed and shutdown the system. This is a latching
shutdown; the system Manual/Stop/Auto switch must be placed in Stop before the
system can be restarted

7.2.16 RTD 14-2 Failure SHUTDOWN

The Heater Element RTD has failed and shutdown the system. This is a latching
shutdown; the system Manual/Stop/Auto switch must be placed in Stop before the
system can be restarted

7.2.17 Shorted SCR SHUTDOWN (Heater Control)

A phase short has been detected and has shutdown the system. Check heater
circuit for problems.

7.2.18 WARNING - Air To Modules Temp Low <(2C)(35F)

Heated air to modules is above below 2C, this is just a warning alarm

7.2.19 Air to Modules Temp Low <(2C)(35F) SHUTDOWN

Heated air to the modules is below 2C for 30 minutes and the system has shutdown.
Place the system Manual/Stop/Auto switch in Stop before the system can be
restarted

7.2.20 “Level Switch 11-1 Failure SHUTDOWN” and “Level Switch 10-1 Failure
SHUTDOWN”
─────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
GENERON HPMB Series Membrane Nitrogen System
Operating and Maintenance Manual
─────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────

A level switch failure has occurred for 30 minutes and has shutdown the system.
This is a latching shutdown; the system Manual/Stop/Auto switch must be placed in
Stop before the system can be restarted

7.2.21 DT IN USE

Incoming temp is high Heater SP and system will automatically increase the setpoint
to maintain delta temperature between incoming air and module temperature.

7.2.22 E-Stop Active (if applicable)

E-Stop button is pushed.

7.3 Generator Startup

Make a visual inspection around the nitrogen generator to insure proper installation. Turn
the mode selection switch on the control panel to Stop. Switch on the electrical power to
the heater and control panels. There will be an analyzer warm-up wait period (1 to 5
minutes) which will count down on the OIT.

Start the compressor (see the compressor manual); it may not start up at first if it is
controlled by the HPMB nitrogen generator.

Ensure the permeate and off-spec vents are unobstructed and can flow to atmosphere.
Verify the drain by-pass valves are closed and the valves to the drains traps are open.
Ensure the valves (19-3 and 19-6) to and from the modules are fully open.

Change the Manual/Stop/Auto switch to Auto.

The daily check list/log should be gone over each day after the system has been running at
least one hour (see Section 8.2).

7.4 Generator Shutdown

To turn the GENERON HPMB Nitrogen Generator off:

Turn the Manual/Stop/Auto selector switch to Stop.

Turn off the power of the control and heater panels.

If there is a dedicated compressor, shut it down per the manufacturer’s

recommendations.
