IAN MITCHELL

On the road with Ashtons...

Meet Ian Mitchell, a veteran of the Ashtons team, who has
been involved with the company, in some capacity, since
2005, and who recently moved into the role of Operations
Director. He makes sure that your journey into the bush is a
comfortable, seamless experience by overseeing the logistics
of Ashtons ground operation. He took a moment out of his
busy schedule to chat to us…

Describe your role with Ashtons Tours. Due to the size of

our company I am currently filling several roles. My main
function is managing and overseeing the logistics of our
ground operations – vehicle maintenance, driver rosters, etc.
Other roles have included IT manager, personnel manager,
admin manager, vehicle maintenance, systems manager.
Basically, jack of all trades and, hopefully, a master of most
of them!

What do you love most about your job? I love being part of
something that is dynamic and growing. It’s a great thing to
witness the fruit and returns of hard work put in over several
years.

What are the biggest challenges you face in your role?

How times have changed. When I look back on my time as a kid angrier, and his responses less considered, with every question.

Animal Check List
There’s nothing better than spending the day spotting your favourite animals. We’ve worked hard to put together a check list that
includes not only the big five, but also some of the littler creatures that are common in the bush. So look up, look down and look through to
osaur see how many animals you can see — and don’t forget to take the checklist with you so you can compare with friends and family.

An excellent and very convenient service, thank you. The driver was courteous and
drove cautiously. The rest stops were well spaced and we arrived at our destination at
his estimated time. This is the second time I’ve used Ashtons, I will use them again and
have recommended them to many other people.
