15% of female deaths in 2011 were attributed to breast cancer.

In 2011, there were 11,762 deaths from breast cancer in the UK. 99% were in women and
less than 1% were in men. This translates to a female to male ratio of around 150:1. Crude
mortality rates were around 36 breast cancer deaths for every 100,000 females and less than 1
for every 100,000 males.

The European age-standardised mortality rates of breast cancer were compared across all UK
countries. The rates did not differ significantly between the constituent countries of the UK
for either sex. The rates have not differed much since the year 2003.
